Don't necessarily need to be a mixer, but I agree with him. |

| Shouldn't be too bad of a package but i'de spend more and get two CDJ 200s and a DJM 400 mixer..that should last you longer. |

lol you need to look into dj'ing a bit more if you don't think you need headphones.
Maybe something even cheaper then this is needed if you're not sure if you need headphones..
Either way, if you really want to have a go at this. Get to Cdj200's. Get a ty mixer to start off with.
Otherwise, and my advice to you as well, is to get a program for your computer to mix with. Traktor or whatever, the lads here will advise you.
But if you just want to see if you like mixing two tracks together then you should try it first with software.
Just my 2c.
nelly
Ps. If by Dj headphones you mean special headphones just for dj's then don't mind my initial comment. But i still stand by my advice. |

| I'd go with the CDJ-200 and DJM 400. I bought some geminis my first time around and regret it to this day. |

Haha, +1
Unless you're really, really lucky all the time for every mix, then you'll need headphones :wtf: |

Exactly, a DJ without headphones is like a race car driver without a wheel...your really going to need them. You shouldn't rely off of monitors/speakers because they can be inaccurate, unless they are VERY good. |

Personally, I don't understand buying crappy equipment, even if you have money constraints. Just save up a little bit longer, make sacrifices (say, if you spend $1 on a drink each day, give up that drink and put that $1 toward your DJ fund), etc. and buy quality equipment.
DJM-400 is a great mixer that will last you a long time. CDJ-200s will be sufficient for quite a while, too.
As for headphones, you will need them. Headphones were the first thing I bought; a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pros can be had for the mid-$80 range or so. An alternative include a particular (search for this) Sony model for around the same price or slightly cheaper.
For the record, I priced 2x CDJ-200 and a DJM-400 at djdeals.com (before they lost authorized status) at $1183, and that wasn't the lowest price I found, either. You can always give AGIProDJ.com and djmart.com a try as well. |

That package is actually not bad at all... the DN-S1000's aren't as accurate as the CDJ-200's, but they are still decent little decks (I spun on the before I bought CDJ-1000's).
I would also suggest the CDJ-200's. The cost is comparable to the DN-S1000's.
-> Don't buy a crap mixer <- There's no need!
If you can't afford something like the DJM-400, that little Denon in that package is actually pretty decent for the price ($150-175 I believe).
So CDJ-200's are around $330-350 each (I think)
DN-X100 for $175
Pair of headphones for around $80-100 (Sony MDV-700's or something like them)
And you'll still be in your budget, and there's nothing wrong with any of the above gear. The CDJ's have a few effects, and the mixer has all you'll need.
As was stated above though, for a couple hundred extra bucks you can get the DJM-400, which should really last you a long time. Effects on the CDJ's, effects on the mixer, .02% pitch accuracy, all you need to get really good (with a LOT of practice).
Well not like you need effects, but if they are there, more fun for you...
