So I'm wanting a laptop to run Serato and also to record my sets so that I dont have to haul my massive PC around everywhere. Suggestions? How does this sound for 900 dollars? It's an ibook.

yea that seams fine allthough can u go for 1gb memory instead of 512? u can probably get it cheaper now in a package rather than purchasing another 512 stick later.
good luck |

i cant seem to find specs on the internal sound card. I'm worried the recording quality will not be up to par. I bought an audigy 2 LS for my pc and it works great...so I'm worried im going to be going down where quality recording is concerned. |

I couldn't see why, Producing is moreso where the soundcard specs are a major factor |

Hmm for 900 US bux I hope thats a new laptop, if so then its a good price and Serato runs great on the PowerPC version of Macs, Intels have problems still, if thats second hand then you should try and get it lower, I got a similar spec one for $700 cdn with warrenty for using Serato.
As for the sound card, umm I don't think that iBook has a line in or microphone in, I know my iBook doesn't, I don't think any of them did, but even if it does, you are always better off buying an external sound card, if you go for it you will love it, and for a 12" screen you sure can see alot on it, plus it is the PERFECT size for Serato. |

All Mac's prior to this year used PowerPC processors from Motorola/IBM.
As of this year all new Macs have switch to Intel chips, so the hardware is pretty similar to that of PC's.

For that price you could spend a little more and get one of the new macbooks. That is what I would do. I don't see any reason for someone to get a G4 unless you're getting a really good deal. |
