Going from being fruity to loving the Cake.

So im moving over to cakewalk sonar and i have a few questions.

When working with percussions and hats i always use ALOT of elements and is there a way to assign a midi track to the audio channels so you dont have all the clutter?

AND is there a way to eq the channels without adding a vst eq in the synth channels?

I will update this thread with more questions as i go hehehe.

hehe, i'm a long time time cakewalk user but recently moved to ableton for CPU reasons. anyways, not sure i understand your midi to audio question?

for drums, use something like battery or kontakt to keep your drums organized.

as far as i know, there is no built in EQ for each channel. not sure why you would want that but, just add an fx to it :)

Hehe, its a little bit frustrating. I almost have every hat and perc in their own effect channel in fruity and with their own effects. So using a sampler will probably only complicate things, the cyclone is pritty nice though.

Cheez i didnt know this was going to be this big of an project. ah well.

well i would hope you'd use a better eq then the one with the program... even if it was temp you'd have to switch it at one point.

not really sure if i understand how you work with drums, but just export everything wet?

I do exactly the same :D... i use one channel for each sample! I know it might seem messy, but i like to keep total control on every sample. And as an Ableton user, i think it fun to play and tweak each inividual sample, cus live makes it be fun and easy!

Sorry for the off-topic!;)

Cheers

Well i didnt want to offend the homosexuals (sorry diginut) but i wanted to name the the thread "from being fruity to loving the cock" but that would be kind of....obvious. But dont tell my Gf.

oh, i guess it wasnt that funny then. Ah well.

I have a few questions now. One of the many things i wonder about is how you change things around. Lets say i have a bass line going but i want the last note to be a little bit longer, why cant i just change 4 bars instead of just changing one? Oh and if i have a bar (like an arp) with 1/16th notes and want to change them into 1/8 notes how do i change them all without changing them one note by one?
Zombie0729
go to your global functions. also, anytime you control drag a midi file to copy it, when you change one part of it(by default, you can change this) it will effect all the same. so if the midi file is 4 bars but you extended 64 bars, whatever you changed will effect the rest like you want.

im not sure i understand the bassline question. for eaze you should be recording your bassline per overall bars not sections. maybe it ask it again because i dont fully understand.
