Hey, I listened to your track... it got a little bit boring as I was Hearing it... I mean, it keeps playing the same thing for a long time in the intro. You have some variations but they are all in the background. You need to make some variations into your main instruments and also put some more instrumens playing different melodies to make it interresting. And.... Though it's hard to say, it wasn't that uplifting. The sound quality is good though... you just need to make some changes let's say :) Ofcourse you said that it's your first production in Cubase and I know that it's a very difficult program to use. I'm still using FL Studio 6 for my productions and I'm still learning how to get things right :) You could visit my space if you like, I have a couple of tracks there that you could hear :) >> www.myspace.com/filecorrupted

Keep trying! I'm being through this myself :)

its only a preview still not finished it more elements are going to be added.

although i take criticism well your views on its not uplifting i completely disagree with. by listening to your track and by your comments on another posters thread you seem to think that cheese is uplifting trance.

im not a cubase noob been using sx 1 for ages just upgraded to sx 3

I don't concider cheese as uplifting trance! Not at all. I got many comments on my track and the word CHEESE was not among them :) I know what is cheese and I try to avoid it. I guess you should wait for others' comments...

I like the melody, the feeling. Nice idea. But I think the bassline and the kick is to low. Keep it up, want to hear a full version!

This has some nice sounds & subtle melodies in it - theres a loop in it that gets a bit repetitive after a while imo - nice percs aswell - maybe could with a more powerful bassline and fuller percs but i'll reserve judgement until i hear a better bitrate - i know what myspace sound quality is like haha! Sounding nice mate anyway.. :)

Well I'm fairly new to the forums (been lurking for about 7 months now..) so take my thoughts lightly!

I agree with dj_kane, the sound quality IS good. I like the melody, and I think you should expand on it... some harmonies, fill it in more after the breakdown, perhaps?

There seems to be a pattern clash with the plucked synth when the panning cymbals come in at 3:29, but it's brought back together at 3:42 (i think) when the higher cymbal comes in. When it comes to these types of patterns I think of myself dancing, and to what part I would sync myself to. It seems at 3:29 I become a little thrown off, and kicked out of that "zone".

At 3:56 the high synth seems a bit harsh to me in comparison to the rest of the track. Either the rest of the track needs more energy at this point, or it's just ME!

I hope I'm on the right track here, again, I'm a noob. If anyone disagrees, please say so.

:)

How many songs have you completed thusfar?
dj_kane
thanks for the reviews everyone.

3F05Q - you have some valid points ill have to check over it and check for the clash something that i didnt notice.

i havent really put much effort into the part after the breakdown. to be honest i spent most of my time getting that bass to drop like that at around 0:55. theres definately some eq issues that need addressed. this was a test drive to see if the sound was right.

i finished about 4 or 5 tracks in all. would say im happy with one that being the coast 2 coast remix. the others i wasnt too in tune with the eq thing. im only getting the idea for it now.

thanks again!

Really nice ideas, and a chord progression that is trying to be a little different, massive props on that :) Playing the minor off against the major sounds sweet.
There is a really cool little build coming up to 1:00, just before the bass comes in. It's awesome man, and if you put a bit more work in that'd really kill a dancefloor.
The intro is a little long imo at 3:00, tighten up!!
The melody introduced in the breakdown is awesome, but I didn't like the strings at all in the second half of the song, not sure if strings should be used like that to play rhythmic parts, and they really don't complement the melody too much.
I'd get rid of the strings, replace them with something that really complements the main melody, which is awesomely catchy, and tighten up the intro. That'd be wikkid!
