Can your computer effect the sound?

What i mean is that, can the small noises from computer hardware effect your sound when recoring in your sequncer? Like the fan, power source, procssesor..etc etc. I dont know much about computers, but i do know it makes some noises here and there. Not that you think of it, but can this make some unwanted "fuzz" in your mix?
Just something i thought of and i needed to see if someone knew this!
Cheers and thanks

Yes...
If it's direct output to input, then you need to worry about grounding and cable issues, magnets, etc...
If it's going through air into a mic, then all sorts of , including mic quality, can get in the way of your sound. |

| It depends what you mean when you say recording. If you're talking about ASIO direct monitoring through a capable interface then no, it won't make a lick of difference. If you're recording from a mic or line in then it will make a significant difference; that's why most of the higher-end audio interfaces come with balanced XLR terminations. If you have 'em, use 'em. If not, you can use a filter either on the line or applied afterwards, but that will obviously affect the signal as well as the noise. |

| You can get noise from the power supply in some cases. Want to know how much noise your system generates with no connected inputs? Record from the Mic or Line in on the card with nothing connected to it into your wave editor. You probably wont see anything, but if you normalize this recording you will see the noise floor greatly exaggerated. |
