Hey Swamper I am subcribed to a thread and receive an email everytime somebody makes a new post to that subscribed thread. How do I turn that email notification off without unsubscribing to the thread. The closest thing I found to doing that was in the Edit Options section of my profile, but it appears to be bugged since I still keep receiving emails:

isn't that kind of the point of subscribing to a thread?
the "Use 'Email Notification' by default?" option is for any thread you participate in... meaning anytime you post in a thread, and you have that option enabled, you're gonna get an e-mail notification whenever someone else posts in it.
i guess i never really saw this as an issue because i only really subscribe to threads that i want to receive e-mail notifications about when someone makes a post.

| When you subscribe to a thread it checks that option in your settings to determine if you want to be emailed for updates to it -- as long as that subscription remains active then that is the behaviour associated with it (independent of whatever your current email/replies setting may be). |

I understand your point, but I think you're missing my point. You know tranceaddict has a notification feature built into their website so everytime there are new replies in a thread I see it in my personal profile. That's where the trouble comes in. Not only do the new replies appear in my profile but I also get emailed about them as well. My point was that I don't need to get notified about a new reply twice (i.e. profile + email), but now that I know it's by design I guess all I can do is live with it.

Thanks for clearing that up Swamper. |

i understand what point you're making, and i can see how you might find it redundant and/or annoying... but keep in mind some people have automatic notification of e-mail on their computers, meaning they'd receive notification of a new post in a subscribed thread practically 30 seconds after the post is made. not everyone checks their profile on TA that often.
everyone has different browsing styles though.. to each their own! :) |
