So the cops can do it but we cant?
Why not just allow the bars to stay open so we can party with the cops??
Someone should invite these guys to Cherry st!
| quote: | Cop 'drinking holes'Ex-cop says outdoor boozing by Peel officers a regular occurrence
By ALAN CAIRNS, TORONTO SUN
Peel cops regularly swig booze at outdoor "drinking holes" across the region, says a former officer.
And they often drink from bottles seized from underage drinkers, the ex-cop says.
The ex-cop told the Toronto Sun that 20 or so officers who were videotaped drinking behind a furniture store are part of a tradition that goes back at least a decade.
The party suddenly turned serious early Monday Aug. 28, however, when the officers at the rear of the store -- on Dundas St. W. at Fifth Line W. -- chased two young men who were videotaping them from some bushes.
ALLEGATIONS
The men -- Richard Cimpoesu, 24, and Orlando Canizalez, 21, say the police chased and assaulted them, and made threats in an attempt to take their video.
They say they fear retribution from the police after going public with their allegations and showing news media the tape of the beer party.
The video shows a number of men and women drinking beer, shouting and giving wolf howls.
One drinker is heard to address another as "Sarge."
Peel Regional Police say a probe is under way.
The 2 a.m. Monday parties typically follow a once-monthly, four-day nightshift stint that ends Sunday night, the ex-cop said.
The off-duty cops seek secluded places to drink because the bars are already closed, he said.
"I know -- I have been there," he said, in reference to the site behind the store. "It was common knowledge that was the drinking spot."
Other drinking hot spots include the baseball diamonds at Kennedy Rd. and Hwy. 401 and the baseball diamonds at Mathewson Ave. and Explorer Dr., the former police officer said.
Secluded industrial parking lots are also often used as makeshift bars.
The ex-cop said that officers in patrolling cruisers turn a blind eye to the drinking, as do many of their supervisors who have full knowledge of it.
Some of the beer, the ex-cop said, is not bought, but is seized from underage drinkers nabbed at some of the same parks and baseball diamonds where the cops go later in the night.
"It is supposed to be logged and put in the storage locker -- but it never gets there," said the ex-cop.
He said the youths are let off with a warning in exchange for their beer.
Off-duty cops don't have to worry about drinking and driving because their badge provides immunity, he said |

3am or 3pm whats the diff? Why is suddenly someone who is out after last call a bad person?
Bad people are awake at midnight along with the rest of us. So why not 3am? or 4am?
Abolish last call and let the good people have a bit of fun. Maybe if the streets arent so empty at 3 am the bad people wont be able to get away with as much! |

No better place to get crooks off the street than to join the police department. |

its one of many...
Time to abolish our antiquated drinking laws once and for all.
If i were in office this is how it would work.
Zero tolerance for drinking and driving. Meaning that anything over zero alcohol level would be a crime. if caught with 0-.08 youd have your licence suspended for 24 hours on the first offence. 30 days jail the second offence. Permanant suspension for life on the third.
Over .08 the first offence would be automatic lifetime suspension and 5 years jail.
Second would be life in jail
In exchange youd be allowed to drink all night. Drink in public etc etc.
Instead of babying adults, lets treat them like adults. And if they up then they get punished accordingly. |
