Move’s 1st Birthday aka The Last Hoorah
Its been just about 12 months since Move threw its first party down at Tilt Bar. Since that first Friday back in October ’05 the crew has managed to continually deliver a rocking night month after month with as many as 8 DJs playing over two rooms. Who would have thought this motley crew of misfits would have made it this far. However it is with clubbing sadness that for now this party will be our last hoorah for ‘06. All good things must come to an end and Move’s last big bash will be on Friday Oct 6th. Easily our biggest party yet, as we take over Kaleido one last time. Both the Balcony and the Basement will be packed to the rafters with DJs, dancers, and MOVERS.
The main room balcony will play host to some very special guests - Jono Fernandez, Nick Thayer, Jacket Off and Luke McD. Whilst the downstairs basement will be entertained by the sounds of Eric ST, Hans DC, Shelden, Alex Lamb and Broken Logic.
In recent times Jono Fernandez has been one of Melbourne’s greatest producers and as a DJ his innovative use of Ableton Live has made him stand out from the crowd. On the production front he has just released ‘Rising Up’ on Lot 49 which has been sold out in most of the known world for the last few weeks. Whilst on the DJ’ing side of things, he has just finished his national tour supporting Meat Katie’s new album ‘Vibrator’ (Meat Katie & Jono Fernandez – ‘Pace’ being Move’s top pick).
Nick Thayer is fresh of some killer remixes for the likes of Drummattic Twins and Malente & Bass Kleph. ‘ing the Groove’ made its way into the hands of many DJs, but it was his remix of ‘Feelin' Kinda Strange’ which went on to win the best remix category at Breakspoll 2005. Apart from a killer schedule DJing in Melbourne, Sydney and England he has managed to mix one half of In the Mix’s ITM50 cd this year. National touring must be a pre requisit to headline Move’s 1st B’day as he to has just finished up his tour with the InTheMix 50.
Jacket Off are relatively new to the scene as a whole, but between them they have been working their craft for over 20 years. As a DJ Band, CB Field & Many Feather control decks & effects, The Baron on Sax and Mad Mitch on Drums. Between them they have played all over Melbourne; venues like Revolver, Q Bar, Brown Alley, The Espy, Bimbo Deluxe, Room 680, The Evelyn, Esco Bar & Circus. On a bigger scale had mixes aired nationally on Triple J, have warmed up a number of international acts for Fractured, toured through Thailand, most recently headlining the Parklife after party (Melb) and in August The Baron appearing on Rove Live.
The good people at Brahma are back on board and have provided us with some goodies for the night. Apart from their top notch beer they are putting on a special once-off display of Capoeira Dancing– something that needs to be seen to be believed. Think crazy karate infused stage dancing in a club! Our clothing sponsors, Nique and Syke will be surprising lucky punters with prize packs throughout the night also.
Hats off to our Move resident DJs Eric ST, CB Field, Josh Ihle and Jonrah (who is rip’n it up O/S atm). As well as a huge thanks to Trudi & Kyle (without whom, Move would not have come so far) plus to Big Mick, Jess and everyone else who has helped (you know who you are). These peeps give so much, yet ask so little.
Note: Due to the intimate size of the venue presale tickets to this event will sell out.
Limited presale tickets $15. Email [email protected] or buy through www.inthemix.com.au and receive a free Jacket Off '06 mix cd.
