The board where those pictures were posted that this guy used had a discussion about the bland walls. Apparently it's a thing in Berlin to try to maximize light by keeping white walls since it gets dark there earlier. Also, there was a bit of discussion about whether you can paint if you don't own - http://www.rhythmism.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43694

Nice pad. I'm getting a place like that on Long Island, accept all the flooring and walls will be hardwood finish.

A lot of people bash on IKEA, but you can't beat their designs, for what they charge.

o man i can't bash on IKEA! i in' love that place. in fact, every single bed that i've had in my entire life has been from IKEA, as well as much of the other furniture i had growing up. day-trips to the IKEA in Newark, NJ are some of my happiest childhood memories. i used to get so excited when i heard the loud engines of the planes coming in for landing at Newark over the building as i sat there eating my swedish meatballs and thinking about how i was going to arrange stuff on my brand new desk.

the only reason i don't have all IKEA furniture at my new apartment is because i hate the one in Illinois, and it's a mad-house on weekends. i couldn't deal with that when i was dealing with moving last summer, so it was Target and JC Penny outlet FTW for me.

Hahah, Target - whatever works. I think I'm going to get all new IKEA furniture, after I get settled into my new place. I prefer Pier 1 Imports furniture, but with all the moving I've done in the last few years, I've kept my old furniture for all this time.
