stanton 500-II needle with a gemini xl-100??!

my friend just loaned me his gemini xl-100 turntables but one of them didnt have a needle so i bought a stanton 500-II for it. When I put it on i get sound but the needle stays sometimes and plays but skips every 5 seconds then the needle runs across the record :( can someone please help me out because im a newbie :) |

make sure the counter-weight is nice and heavy, the 500's arn't the best for staying in the grooves of a record. |

hehe i have the stantons 2 i am always buzzy with the weight .. i will by a pair of ortofons next time i can tell ya that |

I use the stanton Diskmaster (headshell and cart in one) and it is very good. and its not as expensive as ortofon's |

hmmm dont know much about those... but i hear that its not that great... someone told me that the stanton 520sk cart. are not bad and are pretty cheap too.... does anyone have anymore info on these?

no.. but in my iDJ magazine it says the Diskmaster II's are the top choice for many DJ's. i wouldn't doubt it either |

Naw man,
Diskmasters are not really good cartdirges. The reason why a lot of ppl are buying those is because they are cheap, and they work pretty good for that $90/pair. They are good for like bedroom DJs and people like that, not pro's...
I personally don't like them, I prefer my Trackmasters. |
