i was called upon to cover a gig for my friend that went to SF for Love Fest. It is a very nice and lush upscale club that recently opened in Santa Barbara. This club is big pimpin in every way. I started playing at 730pm...and they wanted downtempo/chill out kind of music. I don't have any of that ...im the mothain savage. haha. Well I found this Thievery Corporation mix cd near the dj booth...so I popped that in...80 minutes ftw. I had that on repeat for 2.5 hours. Hahaha. I stood there in the DJ booth while everyone dined on french cuisine. in drinks were an average of 12 bux each!!! Ok so finally around 1030pm they let me start playing my own . I threw down a savage 30 minutes of pure deep house. OMG. My new love. Hahaha. Then my homie Marco Belli came on and threw down a 30 minute set, and then after that we tag teamed for the last 1.5 hours trading off every 4 tracks. So my next time up I threw down tech house stuff....and then I got the last set of the night and blew the roof off with my electro house. OMG. FTW. Haha. I had the in owner of the club (30+) breakdancin and doin a back spin and in a suit. Haha. I got so many free drinks for me and my friends. The owners loved my music so much that....I am now resident of this nice club. On top of all this crazyness, I got paid the most I have ever gotten paid to DJ. I wasn't even expecting anything. $$$$$$$$$$.
PS- They are decked out in Denon. They had a Denon mixer and 2 Denon CD players...those cd players suck f'n balls. Everytime I touched the platter to speed up or slow down a track it would completely everything up. So I mostly did vinyl and my mixing with vinyl had never been so clean before. I impressed myself. Haha.
Afterwards I took all my friends out to eat at Carrow's. My treat. Gotta get some good karma on my side. LOL.
Ok I will shut up now...im in faded. Thievery Corporation ftw. 2.5 hours on loop. LOL.
