Why are so many trance songs sung by a female voice?

I bet you've never thought about this.
Is it because we think by hearing female voices we're thinking ofkindness, emotion and stuf? By male voices we think of roughness. That's why you hear only female voices in uplifting songs, and male voices in hardstyle songs.
Trancewave
um... yes

Don't you know what I mean?
All the uplifting trance songs have female vocals (Jan Johnson, Sara McLachan, Such is life etc). And NOT male vocals (apart from Shane, but that's an exception)

I think its due to that there is more male Trance listeners out there, dont get me wrong theres ing loads of women too, but on the whole , men listen to trance and listenning to a female vocal creates a sexual sound to the song.

Another reason is due to that some of the origanl artists of the old skool / hardcore / era etc use to have lots and lots of female vocals , therefore trance has evolved into an upperclass sound which provides a female vocal.

there are many reasons out there. but who really cares ????

You've got a good point there Rozzer, a sexual sound... You go through to the next round:D

Not quite true. Example of female vocals in hard style song: Marco V - G.O.D.D., soft male vocals: James Holden - I have put out the light
But I do agree that the main reason female vocals are used is that most producers are male. It just sounds more soothing to use a female singer.

like stated above, not really relevant as long as i get my rapture.

Wow, you must listen to a lot of uplifting trance songs with female vocals to make that generalization. I listen to tons of uplifting trance songs, they're one of my favorite types of trance songs, and the majority of them do not have female vocals, let alone vocals.

frankly i think its cause guys sound stupid when trying to be all heartfelt, in a trancey sort of way. the only trance with dudes i like is Maxi Jazz stuff. Faithless is the . its not really uplifting tho...so i dunno/

lol i agree with you dude. just listen to Jaimy & Kenny D - Caught Me Running (Tiesto Summerbreeze Mix) and then listen to Delerium - Heaven's Earth (Matt Darey Mix) right after and it will all make sense why guys shouldnt sing in trance songs!

i think that most guys are not capable of hitting that high pitching note, which makes the tune uplifting.

SmellsExcellent
i just think that a female's voice is much more emotional than a males.. or just much better sounding..

Because the female vocals are gentle, smooth, stylish, and sexy.
