Urban Life

I was checking out this apt in downtown Hartford posted on craig's list. $575/heat/hotwater incl. Great price decent location, but she says for an extra $50 I can park my car in the lot that is patrolled by security guards with rotweilers. She was chalking it up as a benefit but I'm thinking  cost of parking and high car insurance premiums and I'll need to add theft to my policy. No longer seems like such a bargain. Why the can't urban ppl act normal.

Hartford sucks imo, I'd be scared living there, even though it has alright areas. I'm in West Hartford and it's nicer. Check out the surrounding towns, East Hartford, Windsor, Wethersfield...

thats exactly what a co-worker told me. the division between w.htfd and htfd is abrupt. one street its fancy then the next your in a rough neighborhood. the thing is i'd like a vibrant urban environment full of things to do and younger ppl, where I can walk to the local grocery store. instead there shooting, drugs, breaking into cars, etc. Its not all cut and dry but you never can tell when the bad element will pay you a visit or what neigborhoods are "safe".

Yeah, I know what you mean, the division is pretty hardcore. There's a bunch of colleges in the area, so there's plenty of young people around, especially in Hartford. Where do you work?

Yea man, Hartford has a decent night life for Connecticut i guess but id personally stay away. Theres always some stories on the news that someone got shot over crack n .

You can look into New Haven tho. Also not the best and also has its shady parts, as every city. Decent night life and im sure you can find a decent apt. for a decent price

I work near the Sission exit. The apt is on a side street next to the corner of sission and farmington ave (before the Mark Twain house). What do you think of this area? Obviously its not Albany ave/North end :nervous: but, its not West Htfd either.
