Who here uses beat-chopping and loop slicing stuff?

Is it any useful? I always thought it was retarded, but if it sells....then it must be an ok tool for music.

Bahaha, that's pretty flimsy logic! People pay for pet rocks and sandwiches half-eaten by celebrities too.

I do lots of slicing/splicing, but I usually do it by hand, I find a lot of the easy-bake beatslicers a little too confining. Cubase makes it so easy to do it that way anyway...
Final Call
in FL ..i use the Fruity slicer to cut up vocals and make stutter stabs. x]

Well i mean why would one take a loop and "reshuffle" it with beat-slicing instead of jsut making another loop?

Because you don't have access to the original single samples of the loop, or say your making DrumandBAss and want to chop up a breakbeat of real drums. I just do all my slicing and shuffling in cubase wav editor, but I guess I could see where you would want some crazy random cutting/slicing.

All the time. Every loop I ever used was chopped in some way... Well, not every loop.

...why not?
gr8ape
because one would have more control over making another loop than playing with one already done?
