then perhaps raising awareness is ?

Charity is the most ineffective way of helping Africa.

Some of the key issues that need to be dealt with for the situation to improve:
-governance stability initiatives
-education
-setting development goals and attain them ( development cannot be attained without peace )
-hiv/aids

Sorry I could go on about this forever.
What ticks me off the most is the whole hippy belief that feeding the poor will help them is actually not doing anyone any favors.

They gave a benefit concert for Katrina victims. At least he's helping out.

Bono - 1
Bush - 0

The situation in regards to Katrina was a disaster we can all agree on that. But if I hear a single person say the United States doesn't help around the world I will crack their skulls.

Just to give you a brief idea:

Contributions to WFP in 2006 (US$)
1 USA 825,099,617
2 European Commission 225,163,370
3 Canada 110,999,818
4 UN 105,368,741
5 UK 91,057,299
6 Netherlands 64,924,360
7 Sweden 55,268,945
8 World Bank 54,809,800
9 Australia 48,507,044

Danny Ocean
he's been cool in my book. They asked him what he thought about people downloading their mp3s. He said he didn't mind because they already had enough money.

that's cool, and that's what bono does. Canceling the debts, so that african countries can invest in their
-hiv/aids prevention programmes,
-education,
-setting development goals and attain them

What can one man do ? he's not a part of any African country's govenment last time i checked.
