what is it to poeple if someone doesnt speak the same lenguage and lives in their country... give it a rest, doesnt hurt anyone. |

the quote from 2000 about queers and 20 year old moms i know nothing about, but i think he had some very good points with the "speak english" campaign.
i know that this is a problem in norway as well, way too many people, especially immigrants from the middle east, where the parents (esp the mothers) do not speak norwegian. this is a major issue.
say if their kid gets a note from school or something, they have no idea what they are signing, it could be a release to go on a school trip, it could be a warning that their kid is failing classes.
this leaves the kids with more or less freedom to do what they want, and is one of the biggest reasons they join gangs.
i feel that his "when in rome, do as the romans" arguement is correctly put to use in this situation.
i dont know what its like in america, but from waht i have gathered of information from the news, internet, heck, even sitcoms, they all tell me there are way too many hispanic (both legal&illegal) immigrants that do not speak the offical language of america, english.
u say he is a redneck/idiot for doing a campaign to try to resolve this problem, i can't really see that, as he is trying to at least fuel up a discussion on this subject.
i think the reporter is trying to hard to make him look like a fool, didn't work on me. but then again, ive never even heard of this guy before today.

some poeple would get pissed when poeple from the embassy couldnt speak spanish in el salvador... and poeple here in the us get pissed when poeple cant speak english...

I can kinda see what he's getting at with regard to assimilation, but he's such trailer park trash, he doesn't deserve the airtime he got, and those comments he made were absolutely sickening.

well im typing fast.. and watching teli... not saying my spelling is perfect... normally is better than how i type in the cor. but clearly i dont really give a ... my grammar is better in spanish than in english. |
