Cubase/Reason ReWired...

Hi I've been a Cubase user for years now and on occasion I Rewire reason to take advantage of that aswell.
I've never been able to work out how to get the Reason Instruments coming in on seperate channels in the Cubase mixer and its really bugging me, so I'm asking you guys for help.
Right so:
I've selected reason form Cubase by going into /Devices/ and then /Reason/ and highlighted the channels.
I've started up Reason and now its ReWired to Cubase.
I've created an instrument in Reason, lets say NNXT for example. Then for one of my cubase midi tracks I've selected in the output options /NNXT. Great its coming through the channel marked (MIX L) in my cubase mixer.
Now when I create another instrument in Reason, lets say NN19. I will select the output on another cubase midi track as NN19 but it comes through the same channel as the NNXT (Mix L) Even though it has seperate channels in reason.
Does anybody know how to have each instrument in reason coming through on seperate channels in Cubase? |

| when your selecting channels select say channels 3,4 and 5 for your reason instruments. this gives them their own channel. |

also make sure that your instruments are being plugged into the interface at the top and not the mixer. so for example if you have selected channels 3, 4 and 5 you will put each instruments output into the interfaces 3, 4 and 5 channels.
do you get me? |

I e-mailed this description to someone of how to rewire device in stereo to Cubase, hopefully it'll work for you:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Output a devices Left and right outputs to two separate hardware interface channels.
2. Activate the corresponding two inputs in cubase.
3. In Cubase go to Project>Add track>Group Channel, choose stereo and click ok. You should see a new track under 'Group tracks' called group one, rename this after your device.
4. Just under (or over) this new track you should see 'rewire channels'. Select the track for the left channel (rename if you want) and click it's name on the top of the left panel (above inserts/sends etc). This should open up and you will see a slider for panning. Pan it hard left, then do the same for the right channel track but pan it hard right.
5. At the same place you panned the tracks, you should see a drop down menu that say's 'out:'. Here you should tell the reason channel to be output through the new group channel you created. When you click the drop down menu it's name should appear. Do the same for the left and right rewire tracks.
6. Now the two channels will play in stereo through the group channel. (you still control the device from a normal midi track like I explained earlier)
7. If you now select the group track and click 'inserts' on the left panel you will be able to click the insert slots and add vst fx. Because you have routed the left and right device channels to the group track, the whole signal (left and right should be effected.
8. repeat this process as many times as you like for separate devices.
There you go.;) |

I don't know how that's possible when reason only has one stereo output.:conf: |

A good thing to remember when routing the two mono tracks into the stereo group track is to hard pan the mono tracks right and left.

Unless you have a very special version of reason made just for you they are not in stereo (except if they are routed via the 1 & 2 ports but that would only go for one instrument then) :) |
