I left Sunday Morning at 8AM.. When I left Empire it was still going pretty good at that time. I am sure the Eric Morillo party rocked. I know that on Friday the Pool Party closed early from attendence, I got there at 7pm and it was over, supposed to go till 8pm.
ICE on Friday night was ok, not too packed but full. I missed BT's set to go to Empire for my gig, but I heard he rocked.
Empire Friday night was ok. Second Sun had a good crowd but after that it kinda died. After I was done playing at 7:45am.. Empire was pretty much dead. So, I left
ICE Saturday night was rocking. Crystal Method had a great crowd going. Lavelle Dupree absolutely Killed it, amazing! Trevor Simpson was also very good. Then went to Empire, and it was good, didn't want to leave to catch my flight, but it was the best idea.
All in all, not bad for a 1st run VMC... I think next year they will have learned alot and you should have a much more impactful line-up that will get people to travel to be there. |

i was there. it was okay but honestly not too much different from a regular weekend in Vegas.
there were some good parties at Ice.
Empire Ballroom was off the hook for Morillo monday morning and also Charles Feelgood sunday morning.
in reality its just something to build on. i'd assume next year if they have it they'll talk to the SF people to do it on different weekends.
if you love going to Vegas in general, it was a great weekend. if you wanted something similar to the WMC - not this year. |

I would guess lack of ticket sales.. There was a sign at BE saying it got moved to Empire, but I know some people got jacked from playing like Basic Perspective because of this move. |

well that is close to what happened. BE wanted a $15,000 bar guarantee to be open that night and they organizers felt they would not come close to meeting that. typically you put up a deposit to cover the guarantee and would owe the bar any shortcomings. hence they cancelled the party. |

i think the promoters just didn't want to invest the right kind of money to get an above average weekend in vegas. They went for cheaper acts which won't pull people.
from a party-goers stand point they need to bring bigger names that dont come by vegas 4 times a year. They do this the 4th weekend and labor day, so it is possible. oh and try to not have competing massive dj parties, like Love fest on the same weekend.
so while you can say its a good start, it wasn't really to me, what it seemed like was a half assed effort to get a conference going. i do sound ungrateful at what the promoters are trying to put together, i do love what they can get together, but this reminds me of a christmas gift a large grocery store gave to their employees. They gave them all 2 free donuts one morning at work...biggest disaster ever. If you are going to do something, make it worth it, or close to worth it.
