I play all the time, at least until this year I did. First played 13 years ago, I had so much fun I bought my own gun thwe next day. Now I have 5 guns. I haven't played since last October though because I like the big scenario games with 800+ people in them and the past few years the cheating has gotten out of control. It's just not fun like it used to be.

Some tips:

The day before drink lots of water, waiting until you are thirsty while playing is too late IMHO.

Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. You don't need camo, just wear dark colors. Wear gloves and wear a hat. You might want to wear a scarf too, neck shots hurt the most except for maybe nipples. I assume with you being female you'll be wearing a bra so a nipple shot on you won't hurt like it did to me.

Wear boots if you have them.

Don't wear anything you expect to keep clean. The paint washes out but you will get filthy. Bring extra shoes, pants and jacket for the car ride home.

Yes, paintballs hurt but not as much as you think. Ever buy broccoli with that thick rubber band around the stalk? Take that rubber band, stretch it as far as you can and shoot it at your bare thigh from about 3 or 4 inches away, that's about how much 90% of shots hurt. Bounces hurt more then breaks.

Oh, and have fun! It's a blast and a half.

not very fun, imo. And it can seriously hurt, it's not unusual to walk away from a round of paintballing with 2 or 3 bruises.

I'm replying to you, but this applies to others in this thread: stop being such a goddamn . Oh noes, a bruise! For s sake, it stings for like a minute when you get shot, but after that the only memory of the hit is the bruise. I've went with girls and they didn't complain about getting shot. What, you have a lower pain threshold than a teenaged girl?

Re: the pic tubularbills posted: it would look a LOT less impressive if he washed off the pink paint off first. That ain't all blood on his head. The most blood I've ever got was when I got hit in my hamstring, and it left a nice bloody paintball-sized ring on my leg.

psiico111 knows his . The only thing I'd add is if you can find a cheap, coarse pair of jeans, wear those - you can go to your knees without worrying about getting dirty, and the heavy material gives good protection against the paintballs. Also, the more adrenaline you're playing with, the less you'll feel the pain. Keep that in mind. If you sit and cower in some corner for the durarion of the round, not only will somebody eventually find you, and when they do, you'll have like 5 balls in you right away, and it'll hurt a lot because you were sitting there afraid of getting hurt.

When you switch sides, that is key. Notice where the enemy team is murdering all your teammates from. When you switch sides, that is where you want to be. Also, move quickly, find cover, shoot, move quickly. It's surprisingly hard to hit a person when they're running fast because you have to 'lead in' the paintballs. People who try to slowly "sneak by" into new positions usually meet a rain of paintballs. Sometimes kamikazeing works well if you can penetrate deep into enemy lines to take out a lot of them before they take you. Plus, it's hella fun.

yeah, i took the pictard after i got home. so after the initial incident, i had towels and stuff to help soak up some of the blood. but it was still kinda gooey the rest of the day.

either way, you're right - it hurt for a little bit, but i got over it and enjoyed the rest of the day

I've seen some blood playing paintball, it's pretty rare but it happens. Before I learned to wear gloves I had a knuckle split really badly from a hit one time, bled all day. I once shot someone from too close (4-5 feet) in the back of the head (hey, I was new) and he bled quite a bit too.

A far more common injury is from slipping, tripping or falling. As long as you remember the mask rule, NEVER TAKE YOUR MASK OFF ON THE FIELD. Sorry for the caps but if your ref is any good he'll say it like that anyway a whole bunch of times.

Cosmic Fur is right about the adrenaline. Most hits sting for a few seconds and you forget about them, until the next day.:p Naw, they're not that bad. The first time I was hit ever was in the chest, it felt like someone tapped me firmly with their finger, didn't even sting.

He's also right about movement. Slow is bad unless you have good cover and know for a fact no one will see you moving. Of course, if the cover is that good you can move fast. I remember crawling through high grass once, otherwise I can't think of much moving slowly. Something moving quickly draws the eye better then something moving slowly but if it's a short run perpindicular to the other guy's line of sight it'll be hard for them to hit you. Be aggressive. Try to get close to your opponents, it puts them on edge. Playing that way keeps your adrenaline up too, makes it more fun and less painfull.

Paintballs drop quite a bit over their effective range but they move slowly enough to see them, pay attention to where your shots fall and walk them into your target if your aim is off. You can sight down the side of the barrel, most gun designs won't let you sight over the top. After a while you'll get used to the drop and be able to hit people with less wasted paint.

I should ask, are you playing indoor or outdoor in the woods? Indoor will be very messy, lots of paint on all surfaces. Be careful on any built up areas, wooden floors can be extremely slippery when covered in mashed paintballs. Most of the place should be sand or peastone or something but if they have buildings with 2 storeys they can be slippery. Stairs and ramps are the worst. It's not as bad in wooded fields because rain usually washes the paint away.
hiram
ever gotten shot in the nuts??? it kinda tickled

psiico111
No, but the guy I play with all the time seems to have a paintball magnet in his crotch, he's been hit there nearly every time he played. He doesn't think it tickles.:eyespop:

I've been paintballing twice it's not that bad in fact had a good laugh because my team kicked the other teams arse.

There was an instance when the game ended and some fat four eyed **** shot me in the head from about 3 feet, I nearly pulled the gas cansister off the gun and wrapped it round his head I was furious :stongue:

We did get asked to leave on the second occasion because we mucked around I mate exposed his leg to check out a bruise so we shot him in the leg point blank range, later my mate who's a bit crazy took his top of why two other friends fired a barrage of paintballs at him. The guys who were running the thing were none to impressed.

It's not really mega painfull to be honest but I have quite a high pain threshold.
