i've the korg legacy collection and use it very often. the sound quality is really awesome. it's one of the best software synths out there and can compete with a lot of hardware synths.
especially for sounds with pressure is klc great! |

| The digital edition with the M1 and Wavestation is most excelent and affordable. I don't have much use for Legacy cell so I don't go for the full legacy collection. They are all high quality VSTi's though, among the best. |

| I never understood: What is Wavestation exactly, isnt it just a program like Atmosphere? It doesnt look like a synth to me |

| Wavestation uses a library of samples, so I guess you couldn't call it a synth. You can sequence the samples to play in a certain order so that patches evolve and change. This is great for creating beautifull, moving, evolving pads. You can also stack a lot of samples into one patch, and filter each in the usual ways, attack, release, cutoff, LFO, ect. I suppose it is somewhat like atmosphere, but I've never used atmosphere so I wouldn't really know. |

The Wavestation is based on vector synthesis and wave sequencing. This is something developed by Korg that lets you play short segments of sampled audio waveforms one after the other and cross-faded into each other for really cool and complex sounds, mostly pads, textures and rhythms.
The hardware version of the Wavestation had 2MB of ROM based samples. From these you can program thousands of different sounds.
So yep, it's definately a synth and more than just a "rompler" like the Atmosphere.
