i burn single track per cd and organize them alphabetically
Graxxx
Is okay if i put like lets say 5 tunes from AvB in 1 cd.... or would it go better if put 1 tune per cd.. i think that`s like more Smart..

it really comes to personal preference. i will put multiple remixes of the same track on one cd but not different tracks from the artist. like most things it comes down to personal preference.

Well, what if you want to mix in a remix of one of those AvB tracks with an original. Or what if you want to start off with the original, then mix over to the remix half way thru? What are you going to do? Maybe if you did the exact same tracks on a seperate cd. Thats why I do 1 track to one cd. It really does keep things alot easier.

I burn my CD's as I would with vinyl. Two songs per CD, usually original + remix, or two good remixes, etc.

Organization
I got this idea from Kenneth Thomas. I buy cheap white labels from Staples, and print out in nice big font the title/remix of the tracks on the CD. That way it's very easy to find tracks in a poorly lit club, even if it does make me look like an organization freak ;)

I label my tracks as such:

Artist - Title (remix)
BPM - personal rating out of 5

This way if I need a monster track, I just look for a 5 star rating track. Helps with any sort of clutter.

I also organize my CD binder as I would progress fully through a set if I were doing a complete set:

intro tunes
house
electro
prog
slow trance
trance
high energy trance
tech trance
techno

I'm in the process of purchasing another binder as well though so I can split things in two instead of having one binder with like 500 CD's in it.

Another option, which i use myself, is to burn all your tunes onto cds in alphabetical order, say you have 8 tracks per disk. this would created a good few cd wallets full of cds - number the cds in an ascending fashion. then note the track details in a separate booklet which holds a4 paper. Create a spreadsheet on Microsoft Exel and firstly have all the details of the tracks on that cd listed alphabetically by artist (artist, bpm, genre, subgenre, even loop points if wanted). for example this would give detailed information on every track on cd 23.

However this is not convienient unless you know the name of the exact track you want to play next and what cd it is on, and if you have hundreds of tracks this can be very inconvienient if you forget/go blank.

Now, create another spreadsheet with all the detailed of tracks with the bpm as the ascending value, giving you sheets of paper starting from say 125 bpm to 150 bpm. the track you are currently playing can easily have a partner of equal bpm by looking at these sheets, which only takes a matter of seconds.

If your cd collection is very big however and you have 100 tracks at 138 bpm, you could consider creating another spreadheet with the genre/sub genre as the ascending values. giving you numerous song which melodically pair with the currently playing track, then all you have to do is look down until you find the 138bpm area of this genre/sub genre tab and youve narrowed your choice down to tracks in the same genre with the same bpm.

this post may be pretty long and seem like a waste of time but once youve finished organising your tracks this way it with save you alot of time as searching for a completely suitable track will take no logner than 15 seconds

Those of you who organize alphabetically, don't you find it frustrating when you get a new track? You have to bump all of your CDs down a slot from the point of insertion (huh..huhuh....huh...). Do you skip pages or anything? Or just deal with it?

Especially those of you who burn multiple tracks per CD... get a new track and it throws off your whole system. This is a huge reason why I like laptop DJing, but I'm thinking about getting some decks and this really bugs me. I am a bit OCD when it comes to things like that.

Best thing i find is to create seperate CDS of your recently obtained tracks. for me a new tracks details will stick in my mind around 2 months, and after this is goes blurry. I tend to use Multisessions burning, this way it was be easily altered, another option is to reknew your library of ordered every 3 months and have the newest tracks you download on sepearte disks until its time to reknew. the most convienient way overall is probably to have a pc sitting besides you with all the details tabbed, youll know exactly what cds has what on it from just a few clicks.

Prog, Trance, Tech-Trance, etc.

Key - Artist - Song - Bpm

Key as in , the key on a piano. The note that the song was written in.

Can you use CD-RW's more than once? Why dont people use cd-rw's more?
