Our apartment got broken into about a week or two ago. The theives took two of our laptops, my sony psp, a crappy old watch and our digital camera. They also took our dirty laundry hamper with dirty laundry lol. okay, so what they didn't take is what astounds me... They didnt touch any of my music equipment, My access virus Ti was sitting right there, my yamaha mixer, hell even my Sony MDR headphones where sitting on the mixer unplugged and they didn't touch that??? I mean don't get me wrong i am happy as hell they didn't get away with that but I mean common how stupid do you have to be? they also didn't take my PS2 or my Gamecube. Act of god I say

That's...ing incredible bro. I often wonder what would happen if someone came in and took my gear, granted most of my gear is soft synth...still. If I lost my laptop I'd be effed in the ay. And if someone took my keyboard I'd also be up a creek. I don't believe in god myself but it's pretty damn awesome that your music gear was unscathed! Maybe I will become a believer after all. ;)

What about all of your projects? Did those go with the laptop? Or did you have backups somewhere?

Well, it's probably one of 2 reasons. 1st, if a thief can't put a value on something & know how much it's worth, then they probably won't steal it. Laptops,PSPs,etc are more consumer electronics, they know they can make 300-500USD for a 2nd hand laptop & maybe 100USD for a PSD.
Secondly, they could probably sell the stuff they took FAR easier than a Ti or a mixing desk - I'm don't know if local pawnbrokers/cash convertor places would know what to do with it!
As for why they didn't take the PS2 or Gamecube - depends if it was 1 guy who couldn't carry anymore or they were in a rush. And you probably don't want to think too much about why they took your dirty laundry!

Or they're probably like most thieves - stupid f*ckwits who have no concept of the value of anything :D

actually you hit it right on the dot thats what i was thinking i just can't stop thanking my lucky stars they didn't take my virus ti, oh and i had a nordlead 3 rack waiting to be shipped out in the box and everything lol. cumwats!

Took the laundry because all the stuff they took was concealed, and if someone saw them, they'd think nothing of it. Same thing happened to me 15 years ago.

Happens all the time. A few thieves broke into my friend's brother's house, and they only took some bananas and a few candles. It's pretty common, low lifes that has nothing better to do.

People breaking car windows to get some cigarettes is also quite common.

Talking about robbing I had my CDJ 800 MK2's just under 2months old stolen from my car the other week, all boxed up with a mixer, headphones and some MP3 disks so they could start their DJ career off in one - Great!

I know I shouldnt have left them in the car but I got home at 4am and it was getting really light so I ddnt think much of it, plus the car was outside my house (but no alarm).

Anyway so so gutted :eyespop: , still feel abit down from it.I make myself feel better by concentrating on production.

Ill get some CDJ's again in the next year hopefully.

Yea, had my vinyl stolen out of my car, some records that I'll never replace, plus my limited Red Bull Music Academy record bag that I got when I was there in 2003. That's stuff that I'll never get back, so it was really tough to handle.
