YouTube taking down videos critical of Muslims and suspending the accounts of anyone who posts them as a result of complaints from the perennially-outraged Religion Of Peace™

Why should the Muslims think that they are so special not to have "ANYONE" be critical of them?? Jews, Christian, Hindu and other religions have been the focus at one time or another. But lets not upset the Muslims,

Whose Side Is YouTube On?

Evidently the Little Green Footballs blog placed a video on line to address the issue discussed in this post and subsequently the Council on American Islamist Relations (CAIR) took steps to have anti-radical Islamist videos pulled from YouTube. And according to this report via Michelle Malkin, who has had one of her videos banned, some have also had their YouTube accounts closed as a result.
I asked YouTube to inform me of the exact nature of the "inappropriateness" of the video. But no response. The banning of my innocuous video is not an isolated incident. Anti-jihad YouTube users have reported having their videos yanked and accounts suspended, including Crusader18.
Update 13:05 by Matthew Sheffield. By contrast, Islamic terrorist sympathizers and possibly the terrorists themselves have been using the free hosting service to post videos.

Another point: The email YouTube sent to Malkin states that her video was pulled because it was "inappropriate" and advised her to refer to the site's terms of use. I clicked over there and found the relevant portion:

C. In connection with User Submissions, you further agree that you will not: (i) submit material that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third party proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have permission from their rightful owner to post the material and to grant YouTube all of the license rights granted herein; (ii) publish falsehoods or misrepresentations that could damage YouTube or any third party; (iii) submit material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, libelous, threatening, pornographic, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, violate any law, or is otherwise inappropriate; (iv) post advertisements or solicitations of business: (v) impersonate another person.

Considering that there's nothing in the TOU about religion and that Malkin's video wasn't unlawful, obscene, defamatory, libelous, threatening, pornographic, harassing or encouraged illegal conduct, I'm guessing YouTube yanked it after it received several complaints about the clip being "hateful." Does this mean that basically any video can get yanked from YouTube?

Somehow I doubt that if it had been an anti-Republican or anti-Democrat video that it would've been pulled. It seems more likely that this is another example of Islam's special standard.

Here’s a challenge to all you apologists for Islam: stand up in your mosque and declaim, loudly, that religious violence is an abomination against Allah — that those who use terror in a program to restore the Caliphate, those who would execute ex-Muslims who convert to any other religion, those who would condone ‘honor killing’, and those who incite hatred against Jews and other Peoples of the Book have fallen from the Narrow Way and will burn in hell with the sons of Iblis.

If you are unwilling to do this for religious reasons, or fear to do it because of the reaction of your fellow Muslims, then shut the hell up about your so-called ‘religion of peace’, because you are a liar and a hypocrite.

That is all

It was the way that sentence was worded :p I agree that skirting around extremist muslim sensetivities is idiotic, all political correctness is inane. and i can guarantee you Christians would have also pertitioned youtube to take down videos that shed their religion in bad light... i have nothing to prove this, but i know conservative christians all too well ;)

But they also removed a bunch of videos of girls dancing revealing their bodies. And such.

I have great deal of respect to Muslims, especially back in Russia where I had some great friends amongst them ;-) BUT

I try to stay out of the religious threads when I can, but this one I must comment on:

Funny to note than Muslims can do many wacky things to our religions and ethnic groups, but when we do it against them using just words, its SO EVIL,

How many times did many thousands of Muslims burned flags, attacked embassies and innocent civilians, ridiculed our western ways on their television, made funny cartoons and satires on it, murdered activists promoting equality in Muslim lands (like that director from Netherlands who was stabbed several times), and twisted around Koran for their own agenda ... while we ARE NOT EVEN ALLOWED to say anything about Islam, many thousands of miles around the globe, with different religion and culture. Thats abuse, manipulation, and I am against it.

Iranian leader called for wiping Israel off the face of the Earth, and other than criticism, we didnt go around attacking Muslims, their embassies, and didnt do any violent protests like our Muslim counterparts did. I bet if Tony Blair or whomever else will call for wiping Iran off the face of Earth, millions of Muslims around the world will resort to violence yet again in their response ... Ugh ...

This is so stupid. Islam is one of the most dangerous forces on this planet. If they take over the world then humanity will plunge back into the dark ages .... where's the bright Muslim minds to lead their culture forward?

Couple of my friends have told me how they were threatened, harrassed and humiliated during visits to Jordan, Egypt, Pakistan. Clearly tourists, but they were picked on their clothes, threatened not to walk with a woman to a market on one occasion, spit upon, refused to service, and threatened with death if seen again, etc. I've seen plenty of very religious Muslims here in southern Ontario who came to Canada to start a new life in democracy, but they instead live in seclusion, abuse of family members, darkness and strict rules just like back where they came from. One of my Muslim friends told me how his father beat him and his sister and tried to impose strict lifestyle. Can they ever learn?

I am not saying all Muslims are like that. I've met many nice Muslims, especially in Russia. Here in my local Hamilton, Ontario area I go regularly to a Muslim store and I love their food, and the store owners are nice and they got very happy family. It's the radicalism and extremism thats enflaming the Middle East that worries me.

I don't think you won't get much argument about that from anyone here; the sentiment is pretty much unanimous...

minus a few who don't care what the Muslims extremists do as long as it makes BushHitler look bad

Good. I get into enough arguments as it is. Sometimes I think I go too far, and I got too far to push my point.

I have faith in Islam. Hopefully Americans will do something to ease the situation in Middle East / Persian Gulf, like withdrawing some troops and giving back some power / strategic bases to the rightful Muslim owners. Current American expansion in the Middle East will only result in increasing extremism / radicalism IMO. And that worried me.
