Solution: Support your local farmers and buy organic food, do not use Monsanto products (because they might sue you), among some other things.
This has more educational information than offering solutions. You can come up with your own solutions after watching this. |

LOL, sure, ill buy it when they can deliver organic food for 6 billion people. Educational? We are all aware of the dangers of GE plants, we know that corporations have an enourmous amount of leverage in our current world. But support local farmers? If we were to eat only organic food you couldnt even feed the US alone, imagine trying 6 billion people. The world can not support sutainably 6 billion people with just organic food, and evolution takes too long. You take away all the GE food, all of our farming advances and you'll have a breakdown in civilization. Why? When people can eat, when people start dying off everywhere in the world, no ones going to be thinking about democracy, no ones going to be thinking about ethics, morals. No. They are going to be thinking about food, and feeding themselves. In the past, many civilizations have vanished because they raped their environment and in the end could not feed their people. Right now GE plants and more research into making are soil more productive in order to try and glimpse how we could feed our population without destroying the earth is the best chance we have. Support your local farmers? Yeah, that'll work for the few wealthy enough to afford it. |

Don't get me wrong, I try and eat organic food all the time (they're just taster somehow) but GE food is also needed to sustain a growing population.
That's doesn't make it evil, just needs to be better controlled apparently... |

I buy organic foods and foods from local farmers.
Oh, and I heard most estimates suggest that by 2050 there will be close to 10 billion people or something like that. And waybe by 2100 there will be ...
Do the math ;-) no genetic engineering is going to solve the shortage of food on the planet. But the abuse of soil, environment, air, water will only decrease the remaining arable land, like like its happening in Asia and Africa (where Sahara desert has doubled in the last 2000 years). Humans fault for cutting the trees down that stop the spread of the desert! |

I would really like an intelligent conversation on the topic but its way too difficult if you dont state your points of view. I mean what are you suggesting then, just stop GE and go all organic? Did you know that organic farming also rapes the land and depeletes the soil, and also causes erosion? Why not just control the industry and look for better technology? Who can you support the idea that no technology is going to be able to help us create sustainable development, i mean you've said nothing with this post. |

Farming in general harms soil. I've only seen natives in South America to my knowledge who use a complex method that doesnt damage soil (described well in a book Last Hours Of Ancient Sunlight by Thom Hartmann).
I am not all against genetic engineered foods. I praised hybrid farming techniques. Its all the biological and genetical DNA and structure changes done to plants that makes me and others worried. It is weakening the plants, and making them succeptable to disease that can wipe out entire agriculture, and then there's super bugs than now require much more pesticides, more work ... and all that ends up in your water, food, air ... its a long topic, just watch the video please ;-)
First, we need to immediately stop destroying environment (cutting down rainforest, release of pollution and chemicals in water and air, abuse of soil, etc). Secondly, we need to decrease the world population. Third, we need to devise better educational programs and system to protect the environment, because it is the most important thing - when it is damaged beyond repair we will not only destroy ourselves but all other life. |

That's gold. Ever read any books on crop rotation? (tought to every man, woman and child with a 3rd grade education). Yeah, that's sarcasm. I'm layin' it on pretty thick. |

I'm guessing that you are one of those stupid people who believes that 90& of the world's population should be dead.
And who will decide who survives? Want to know why you people want 90& of the world's population dead. Because the 10% leftover will be 2.2% minority and the rest will be white.
What is wrong with this planet is white ppl. Kill em all. |

I didnt say anything about that - actually, not many farmers rotate crops anymore, its not economically possible for them all. And maybe you were taught about it, but not everyone knows about it and certainly not all farmers follow it. |

sigh. Let me say it again "WE NEED TO DECREASE THE WORLD'S POPULATION." I didnt say KILL the world population.
We need a new working solution to slow the population explosion. |

Yeah, they might teach that in your country, but what about teaching to avoid soil erosion, desertification, pollution of air and water supplies, that cutting down trees damages soil, etc. ... |
