HELP for my 1st setup

DJ HARN
Hi, just posting another thread. As I'm going out tomorrow to purchase some CDJ's, I'm thinking of lost of things, and where better to get them answered!!
I have never used CDJ's or Vinyl, only digital (mostly Traktor for 4 yrs now). Anyway, the question is what will I need?

2 x CDJ's
1 x Mixer
2 x Speakers

Is that all for a basic setup. Eg, I dont need an amplifier do I?

I'm thinking of this set up basically for budget but also because I dont want anything too advanced yet.

2 x CDJ 100's
1 x Numark Dm 1050 mixer
And some speakers of some description.

Do the cables for connecting the CDJ's to the mixer come with the product or do I have to buy them seperate?

What do people think?

headphones. sony v-7506. and no point getting the cdj100s now, go for the 200s instead. ;)

It all depends on what the shop are willing to 'throw in'.

The speakers you buy need to be 'active' if you don't have an amp, meaning they have their own internal amp. You will need leads for those speakers from your mixer too, as the speakers will most likely NOT come with these. Ask the shop to be sure.

Yeh I've been looking at the Numark M20 speakers, and they appear to have built in amplifier, also they re compact enough for bedroom, which is the other drawback.
DJ HARN
after much debating today I've decided to fork out the extra £180 or so for the 200's. Had a look at them in the shop, couldn't resist!

WHATS THE JOG WHEEL LIKE ON THE 200'S? It looks metallic? Is it quite slippy or is the grip ok?
What about the pitch bend?
Jarvmeister
the big advantage of the 200s is they have a very fine pitch increment, 0.02%.

As for the slippyness, well, I don't honestly know, but since they're not scratch CD decks it really shouldn't make too much differece either way.

its not slippy at all. it looks metallic but it has a ribbed surface and grips really well.
