How come lives sets that are spun in Canada rarely get recorded, be it radio show or some other third party?

And if you are able to do so please record Sander's set on Sunday. PLeeeeeeeeaaaaaaseeeeee.

if its not broadcasted on the radio then its usually up to the dj to record the set himself. If he/she didn't record it then c'est la vie

you also have to take in consideration the contract that is between the djs and club. alot of times clubs and djs specify that they do not want the set recorded unless otherwise noted. reason for that ofcourse is that clubs wud record these sets and put them out and that will just kill the buz for everyone cuz ppl will be sayin why go to the club if i can hear the set in a week or so anyways.

but yea its up to the DJ if they wanna record it or not or if they wud let it broadcast or not.

also there arent many commerical dance stations left in north america if there are any at all. Which is why you will get live to air creamfields in argentina or england but big events here go without broadcast.

But.. hopefully this is changing ;)

BTW downloading really killed it too. Djs used to not care if clubs recorded their sets so much because it would be difficult to distribute a bootleg. In many cases, bootlegs would actually help their cause. Not so much in the days of downloading where a recording could be transferred around the world within hours. I remember practically every dj that played at industry had a live mix recorded at industry for sale. (with artist consent)

Also the big mix tape raid back in the dark ages (1999-2001) of toronto's dance music scene. They busted Traxx and Play De Record for selling mix tapes by djs. They say the labels wanted something done but many think it was a prohinitionist move to crack down on "rave music" at a time when the city wanted them shut down.

I've also found a trend that DJ's do not want their sets recorded because if it gets released, it might ruin their upcoming shows since the sets will be quite similar(hence people don't want to hear someone else's winamp player :D) . I personally would try to prevent seeing a DJ that spins 90% of the same thing every night, and I can name about 1 trillion off my head that do, but hey that's the way she goes.
