I looked at a few discography sites and was wondering why people do work with so many different record labels and switch; in other words it seems few stay with any one label for a long time. Instead, it looks like many artists switch often-does any one know the answer to this?
-Thanks |

Money? Or one label may inhibit artistic creativity while another may not and may be a better channel for that creativity?

Thats probably true... and its usually not just one switch, they usually do it often, from song to song even.

Generally artists switch label to label unless they are involved in the development and direction of a label or are signed there for a multi single deal. Some artists also release on specific labels as a means of delivering a specific kind of track or sound (which is why they also use aliases as certain artist names are exclusive to particular labels).

Think the guys have answered the Question perfectly, one thing i don't get though is why Perry O'Neil released 'Industribe' & 'Rush' on Remy's 68 label when he's head of Electronic Elements & they are his usual kind of sound which is synonomous with EE
