Iam planning a trip to Turnmills on the 13th October then we are all going back to my mates halls of residence in Reading afterwards for a party. As I live in Leicester I've worked out that it will cost me £50.50 in total travel costs to get into London by coach, get the tube from Charing cross to Farringdon, then from Farringdon tube to Reading station (via Paddington) then finally get a coach from Reading to Leicester at the end of it all. None of the people going can drive so I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on how to make it cheaper?

Get the train, its really easy for the London > Reading stretch but does cost a fair bit if you buy the ticket on the day. Try booking it online early, you can get about 70% off sometimes.

i second this .. off peak with set travel times and you can get to london from most places (i presume given nottm and sheffield) for around £5 or £6 one way .. i think that included railcard discount too though it wouldnt be far off that price ...

Just wondering, when I get the tube train from Victoria it seems that I will have to get off and transfer to another line a few minutes before the end of my journey. This halfway stop could be either Kings cross thameslink or Blackfriars depending on the time I get the first train from Victoria tube. Thing is it seems that Blackfriars is actaully not a tube station according to www.thetrainline.com and how will I know what station to get off at in the first place? Is it printed on the tube tickets?

I'm confused, lol
