Comparing AAFC quarterbacks with their contemporaries is probably not such a good idea ;) |

he took his team to the NFL championship in his first year in the NFL and won.
that was after he played 10 seasons in the AAFC, took his team to the championship game 10 times and won the chamionship 7 times
respect. |

Comparing the game in the 40's and 50's to the game now is an apples and oranges comparison. |

the new soldier field is the most disgusting venue i have ever seen in my life
should have torn down the venerable venue instead of building a spaceship inside the old building |

you're right
quarterbacking back then was a lot harder.
there was a lot less protection. if quarterbacks got nailed nowadays the way they got hit back then - there would be half a dozen unnecessary roughness calls per game. |

Getting hit by a flabby out of shape white guy and a 250+ lbs of pure muscle are two completely different things.
The point is that the game is different now than it was then, and regardless of your viewpoint on it, comparing the modern quarterback to one from teh 40's and 50's is an unfair comparison.
And saying Favre is no where near the greatest quarterback of all time is a just a travesty... :p |
