NI retires FinalScratch, debuts Traktor 3.2
Native Instruments today announced that its DJ Division will completely concentrate its operations on the Traktor platform and retire the FinalScratch product line in favor of its Traktor platform. NI said it will develop integrated solutions for the DJ market based on its own internal hardware engineering capabilities and expertise, as its partnership with Stanton Magnetics based on their FinalScratch digital DJ system will mutually expire in 2006--with both companies expected to focus on their respective product lines following that date. In addition, NI said that will continue to maintain the FinalScratch user forum on its website until December 31st 2006, but will take steps to provide a single software solution to users by offering a Traktor 3 upgrade ($120/€100) to existing users of FinalScratch 1/2 and to Traktor 3 LE. The company has renamed Traktor DJ Studio 3 to simply "Traktor 3," and adjusted pricing to $230/€200. Due in early November, the free Traktor 3.2 will include a range of new features and improvements as well as support for Intel-based Macs. |

| This doesn't suprise me too much. I've always heard that SSL was better than FS and that FS had a lot of issues. Hopefully some good wil lcome of this from both companies. |

| Thank you Guitar Center for not making me buy Final Scratch. For 600USDm versus Serato Scratch Live @ 530 bucks. It was worth it. |

Vinyl emulation (like Serato and M-Audio Torq) will still be supported in Native Instruments Traktor 3.2 which is to be out in November. It's already supported in Traktor 3.1 which has been out for a while.
Here is the relevant part of their updated press release. Their original release wasn't 100% clear about this. Even the latest is a bit confusing as it sort of implies an Intel-based Mac is needed, but I'm sure it will work on a Windows computer too.
"In early November, Native Instruments will also release TRAKTOR 3.2, which will include a range of new features and improvements as well as support for Intel-based Macintosh computers.
Due to TRAKTOR 3 being able to operate as the software front-end for FinalScratch 2, the upcoming 3.2 version effectively makes the FinalScratch system operational on Intel-based Macintosh computers, at the same time adding extensive creative functionality over the standard FinalScratch 2 software.
All owners of FinalScratch 1 and 2 can take advantage of the TRAKTOR 3 upgrade which is available for $ 119 / € 99. This permanent upgrade offer also applies to all previous versions of TRAKTOR, as well as to the new TRAKTOR 3 LE that is included with the AUDIO KONTROL 1 audio interface from Native Instruments."

| This is rubbish, Stanton will continue to do Final Scratch, just NI and Stanton won't be working on it together anymore. You guys should check your facts before posting stuff. |

I had no problems with it at all. It did everything I anticipated it to do. I have to say it served me well. |

FS and SSL are the same thing when it comes to mixing
the only thing SSL has more when it comes to mixing is cue points and loops. but ur using a vinyl emulation tool... vynils dont have loops
i had fs and it sucked for scratching, so i sold it and bought SSL because i play some hiphop
apart from that, there pretty much the same |
