I think I understand what it is, but I'm not sure.
Is it like phrasing, but just more deeply planned so that a set flows perfectly. We can all mix phrases afterall, but to programme means we put a lot of planning into those cue points?
Or maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick....

well...
do you mean set programming? that's the only kind of programming i'd be familiar with. and that is basically track selection and in what order your tracks are played.
i think what you're describing to is just simply, phrase matching.
correct me if i'm wrong. |

| If your talking about programming a set, it just means you planned out pretty much what you will be doing with the set, like you know all the tracks you are playing and how you are gonna play them, this can be good or bad. |

OK, thats cleared it up.
I was asking in reference to Allied Nations latest promo mix, when someone said the programming was spot on.
This now makes sense, because a promo mix SHOULD be planned (or programmed).
Cheers for your help.

| Programming is just a DJs ability to play a coherent set. No pre planning required. |
