My best friend and I were having a conversation tonight about a lot of things. One of the topics was National Coming Out Day and how theres still such a struggle for gay rights. We were both talking about how we hope that the path of things takes a turn soon. I told him that if it doesnt take a turn, we're on the path to a Salem II, and that if they hung him/drowned him, theyd have to do the same to me. And then I was thinking, thats not just something I threw out there in conversation. Thats definitely a conviction. I would make them kill me too because 1. I think it would have more of an impact than other means of extreme protest (ie. bombing buildings) and 2. if it ever got to that point, it would be the rock bottom of modern human existence, and I wouldnt want to live anyways.
Short version: If the religious right killed my best friend for being gay, Id make them kill me too.
