I went and test a pair of these babys.
They kick! I thought they sounded awesome, but I have nothing to compare them to.
I've heard a few bad reports about the RP8s, but I cannot see why, but as I said I have no comparison.
Can anyone recommend a monitor speaker that they think is better for the same price, £350 for the pair?
Cheers

Not a whole lot compares to the KRK's they are often considered the industry standard for home dj monitors (although not the best for production imho)...if you can afford it...get IT. as with most DJ equipment your getting in quality what you're willing to dish out economically. ofcourse if you're on a tight budget I'd also recommend these:

more than enough quality for bedroom use...and cheap at that!

Allied Nations, could you tell me why you think the Events are better? It's difficult for me to understand without actually hearing, and I know that it's probably nto what I should be looking for in a speaker, but do they 'kick' as much as the KRKs? I was impressed by their power.
Are the events better at holding their audio clarity at higher volumes?
Any explanation would be appreciated!
The Events are marginally more expensive than the KRKs over here in the UK, but if they're that much better i might consider the extra outlay.....

I'm telling you , I listened to the KRK Rokit 5s -8s and the Event Tr6 &8.(Their 5 was discontinued). You will find they sound exponentially warmer and smoother than the KRK's.
Think about it, these are studio monitors, meant for clarity and accuracy. The KRKs are all that you are saying they are BOOMY as . I personally prefer a much more balanced sound. I find overall quality of the Event's are far superior. I myself am using the Event ALP5 which is a slightly pricier 5 inch monitor, and they are so goddamn warm for a 5 inch- its pretty crazy. |
