Subject: Attention: Sonic Management, Staff & Owners
I hope this reaches the right people because it is important. I ran into somebody the other day which I hadn't seen for a while and missed. A well known man in my area and clubland at large. His name is Shane. Those of importance may recognize him as the lead doorman at Sonic....or at least used to be. After sharing an espresso together, I was made aware that he no longer works there. It doesn't seem that it was entirely his choice. I am not sure what happened and he didnt want to say it completely. Whether private or public.....WE NEED THIS GUY BACK AT SONIC !! I have watched him in action, he keeps the snooping cops away, the drug dealers at bay and makes sure the club has the best mix of people (sexual, style and behaviour). He is a doormans doorman. Sure, he used to let me beat the lineup or give free passes to me and my friends BUT I always make sure him and his crew at the club are taken care of. I was introduced to Adam through Shane as well as Radick, Tony and MO. These guys suit your club very well because they are a team that does not divide and conquer one another. A brotherhood if I must say. I made sure I introduced myself to everyone there because if anything were to happen I would have there back and they would have mine. For god sakes, I came to half of your staff....they're awesome ! From the point you turn the corner and see them, they always shake your hand, tell you whats up for tonight and make sure you have a great night. Shane is prime for me when it comes to dealing with people. He is serious but sincere, deadly yet calm man who used to be the star wrestler at my highschool. He is still well known in my books.
Here are some rumours I would like cleared:
1) THEY ARE TURNING SONIC ITO A GAY CLUB
wtf ? what happened to the Fly ? the best thing about afterhours and the underground scene is the coming of all kinds and genres and creations united to dance all night, socialize, make new friends and party till the morning. I personally like guys and girls and have nothing against gays but I can only see male hedonism on those couches which would turn off a lot of your regulars.....like me.
2) SONIC HAS BEEN SOLD TO RUSSIANS
I have nothing against that but David' I thought this was your experiment. It didn't bomb yet. I know the count has been low BUT give it time. New sound system, more decorations and theme nights would be a good idea. I look up to you David. Not only are you brilliant at the underground, the music and creating a vibe.....you saved us from the Guvernment being the only place to party.
PS. Jennstar I met you at Beba. Remember ? Work your magic girl.
PPS. Nevio- its called St. JO's. I went for a while. You need to talk about it.

ive heard from a few stories myself. ive heard from ppl that the club has been taken over by a new group because the club is running up massive debts to absolotely everyone. the club gives the facade that they are making money, meanwhile people everywhere are being stiffed or told they will be paid in the future. also ive heard that the dismissal of the group of doormen that were running the club are not happy by their dismissal & there could be serious repercussions in the venue...so much so that some staff are actually scraed of this happening (again the staff that are owed money) also expect this to be the tip of the iceberg as the bills are mounting up & when u borrow money & lie to the people sonic has to remain open & pay their talent...u can expect nasty things to happen. then add that the management doesnt even speak to one another apparantly (nevio & morales) & u have a recipe for disaster.
its a diiiiiirty business. id hate to be part of this :nervous: |

If you bothered to read the thread (that has now been deleted from Tribe) then you would have read Carey's response....
The club is starting a Gay Friday night in November.
David and Nevio are still the owners of the club.
All these "rumors" that you heard are just that.
I am going to stop here though and let the club management speak :D |

OH i didnt read carey's response! :mad:
so they are all rumours!!! not to happy about the gay night tho (not that there is anything wrong with it) just not my thing! |

The gay night will be Friday nights.
If you don't like it cause its not your thing then I suggest not going :D |

Oh, that thread disappeared faster than any thread locked up by the mods here on TA. It's funny because the original banhammer alexd has not flexed his power and authority in years. He's usually very liberal, easy-going and very tolerant in his old age. WOW...it en diappeared fast!!!:D LOL |

Anyone who is a regular at Sonic knows that a lot of the statements made in that "post" are not true.
-Most of the staff mentioned by name, are still there
-The club DOES NOT need a new sound system as suggested...this statement on its own, discredits the original post
-The club has has several themed nights since it opened and is planning more
There have been many rumours about the club ownership over the past few weeks. I say, who the cares...as long as the talent is there and my frineds and I have a blast every week...why should I care who owns it?
The line up over the next several weeks looks great...we can't wait!

| nothing wrong with some club gossip if you ask me! come on, its our scene, who wouldnt want to hear the latest news? anyway, i have no beef with sonic (ive never been) there hasnt been a dj they've had that i want to see but hopefully one day in the near future!. |
