Well maybe the latest round of American "muscle" cras, but old American muscle cars are pretty much overrated piles of crap.
Sure they have massive engines and gobs of horsepower, but everything else sucks. They handle worse than a modern day civic. What fun is there in going fast straight? And please...you can modify pretty much any crappy car and infuse it with HP to go fast in a straight line...BOOOORRRIIINNGGG.
A car like that would be slaughtered by some cheap Japanese car on a REAL race track.
Also to the person who said the car gets him laid...that may be true, but if he drove a new 911 turbo, Gallardo, Elise, F430, etc he would get laid 10x more...

do you even know how HP is generated? know anything about torque? owait, i think you are a generationricer, because HP isn't all that determines how fast a car can go...wait..you are right more stickers more HP i forgot

i<3half year stangs
i got a restore project on a 87 pontiac grand prix se - still had a mint candy apple red w/flakes in it and suede interior
it's been sitting for over 10 years so i'm sure there is a bunch of work that needs to be done to it. minimal rusting, i think it has under 2K miles on it ... sitting in my parents house garage with a cover on it... |

I hope its on blocks or jack stands, them tires will be gone soon. |

tires are gone completely although the rims look in tact, the car will require a total make over, i might be able to only salvage the main parts, all the rubber needs to be replaced in the block after i lift it out port, polish, bore out the heads, replace the pistons and push rods...i think the only real issue im going to have is finding a decent carb...last i looked maybe 3yrs ago edlebrock made some nice retro-fit carbs. off hand i know, brake lines, rotars, pads, arms, motor mounts and steering column need attention...thats about it off the top of my head |

| When I have the time and money, Im gonna look at restoring one of those classics also - and Im gonna try to do it with original parts, but those bitches are hard to find and expensive. The most important thing to me is that the body be in mint condition, as well as all the big parts - I dont mind cleaning them, but I just dont want to have to replace all those big piece's. A working engine would be sweet too. |

the 2 hardest parts to restoring a vehicle are changing all the rubber on the car - engine all the way back to the fuel tank and stopping rust areas
original parts can be sent out to be stripped, treated, and rechromed..easy and probably the best way to restore unique pieces (grill bumper, turning marker trim, body trim, door handles, window trim, and key locks) |

I didnt know about that, probably pretty pricey to do that though. But I mean, the guts of the car, the little ... like I dont want to have to take apart the entire engine looking for old rusted parts (which Ill probably end up doing anyway) and trying to find something to replace it with. Its inevitable that parts are gonna have to be replaced since its almost a 40 year old car, I just dont want it to be like half the engine and tranny. :p |
