using drum loops temorarily?

is it alright to use a nice drum loop while you are writing the rest of the song? just to colour it a little... or a lot... and maybe keep it all together? no? i find drums are hard to do as part of a creative process. they are technical and aloof in their character, they have to be egineered... no?

if the loops are royalty free then they are there for you to use in any of your productions. I like to create my own loops and such but if i just so happen to find a good loop that i think will fit the track well, then i'll use it. the cons with using them is that some may notice that it is a loop created by someone else and may shoot you down for it and you don't get that good feeling of creating the loop by yourself.

but by all means, if it sounds killer in the track, then use the damn thing :D . you can always change the loop around as well by adding FX and doing other such things.

sounds good.

do you find that any well egineered loop suits the song, within the style that you are looking for, without changing its feel?

Of course not. Different loops have a different feel, and every change changes the overall feel of a track.

It's a sin to the music gods! They will wrath upon your scattered soul!

That's one of the worst questions... ever.

'Is it ok to use patches?'
'Am I a real producer if I use bass loops?'

Dude, even proffesional producers use material they haven't made on their own, even vocals. Maybe they do it even more so. So stop thinking about that and just roll with it. What works for you is what works for you, and don't let anyone tell you otherwis.

i think loops r fine. cuz its what you do with them or lack of doing and then producing the rest of the track that makes it original. so whatever you do to make your beat, do it (as long as theyre royalty free like someone said). if u get vengeance's loops you can listen to them and pick them out of todays best trance songs. so that would show u that even the worlds best producers use them at times. in fact, just based on my experience talking to other producers, big and small, most do not make their own stereotypical percussion save specific moments in tracks that require whatever special "spice" theyre looking for. so by all means use a loop if you think its what you wanna use. tons of other people do the same.
