it's another remake [they did a prequel to TCM back in the day too]. i liked the most recent remake a lot - and this one looks good too. haven't seen it yet, but looks like it would be pretty sweet.

saw it a few days ago. it was awesome. i thought it was quite a bit better than the remake of the original which i also liked a lot. this one is grittier and bloodier. a great family movie. i must add that i am a huge horror fan though, so if you aren't into that kind of stuff you probly won't like it as much as i did, but you should still think its pretty good.

Bah. This wasn't a "horror" movie. If you think a couple of "boo!" moments followed by snuff-film levels of gore is a horror movie, then we're in trouble. It was gorier than "Hostel" if anyone's looking for a comparison.

Are we so desensitized that we literally have to watch torture in order to get scared?

Hostel was a ing joke and not a movie. It was more of a porno then it was scary. Even the "porn" scenes in that movie were gross.

"Horror" is not synonymous with "scary". Lots of horror is not scary. I have not been scared by a horror movie in a long time. Also, i hate movies that rely on boo scares. TCM: Beginning doesn't do that. It creates a creepy, twisted atmosphere which is very much part of the horror genre.

Agreed. I hated that movie. It was way too much t&a and no where near enough horror. Also, it was nowhere near as disgusting and gory as everyone makes it seem. There were about 2 or 3 minutes of true gore in that movie. Go watch land of the dead if you want to see what true gore is.
