Women don't give 2nd chances. US society has taught them that there are tons of men out who would be lucky to have them and that they should always expect perfection, because they see themselves as perfect.
Men, on the other hand, realize how ed up both genders are and will do all that they can giving the woman 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th chances until they become shells of their former selves. |

i've told her what any girl would want to hear in her situation, but i was in a relationship so i couldn't show her. I had a chance one time while she was in her breakup period, but i left the party early with plans on returning and passed out.
now looking back i don't think she's my type at all. We get along great, but we see things differently when it comes to drugs, music and apparently love. It wouldn't work. |

Oh, I never meant stepping in to replace her boyfriend. By no means, would you want to drag such a project into your personal life. Could you have talked some sense into her, by helping her realize that she's in an abusive relationship? However, it may not even be worth the trouble. |

I have a friend that was in an emotionally and verbally abusive relationship, and she kept going back to her boyfriend year after year even though we advised her against it. He'd tell her he was sorry, and that he would change and she REALLY wanted to believe him, but he never did change. We tried to be supportive and tell her she should get out of the relationship early on. We told her she deserved someone who'd respect her and treat her like a human being. She'd listen but didn't really appreciate us telling her that we knew better than she did. Eventually, she closed up and stopped telling us anything about their relationship because she didn't want to face the criticism. They were even engaged a couple times, but finally she ended it. I'm not sure what the turning point was. She's a smart girl, just finishing med school, but I guess you can't always control your heart. |
