| Ok so the CDJ 1000 Mk3 and the DJM 800 seem to be the best but what about the CDJ 1000 Mk2 and DJM 909...I found these for a real good price and the guy said first come first serve so i'm wondering if I should go for them...are they alot worse the the Mk3 and 800? |

If you decide to go the vinyl route, get nothing less than Technics 1200 turntables. There is no real substitute and with vinyl you really can't skimp out. I first bought Numark turntables and it was a bad idea due to loss of pitch (although great to learn on).
If you decide to go the CD route, try things out in a store first. My best option would be to get the Pioneer CDJ-800's as they are fantastic and cheaper in price.
For a mixer, I would suggest a Pioneer DJM mixer. Club standard is the 500/600/800 but you could get away with a 300 for now without a problem.
But as RJ stated the cream of the crop is the Pioneer CDJ-1000 MK3 and the Pioneer DJM-800 mixer. |

I'd stray from the CDJ-200 and go with the CDJ-800MK2.
The 800s are much closer to the 1000 and offer superior precision and control. |

If you are looking for THE best of the best than this should tickle your fancy:
Headphones: Pioneer HDJ-1000 - From what I've heard the only cons to this expensive gem is their durability, I hear they can break on the arms.. which should never happen unless you are simply careless (I purchased the Technics RP-DH1200 because the odd time I am careless and these are rock solid if your headphones take a beating)
CDJ's: Pioneer CDJ-1000 MK3 - Simply THE best CDJ's and a club standard. There is no substitute.
Mixers: Allen & Heath: Xone 92 / Pioneer DJM-1000 -- Best sound quality on both of these mixers. Likewise they are the club standard but you probably won't see the DJM-1000 around as much because its hard to find and if you do it carries a ridiculously heavy price tag. Thus most people opt for the DJM-800 which is on par with the best of the best. The Xone 92/DJM-1000 both offer different features so it comes down to personal preference. Xone 92 is one of if not the only mixer to offer a 4-band EQ which I personally would find to be one of the most important features a mixer can offer.. but as I said it comes down to personal preference.
Now then, as far as being realistic here and AFAIK you have no experience with any DJing equipment.. you are better off to get something ALOT cheaper than THE best. Oh and Vinyl... yeah vinyl rocks and all but its completely fading out of the DJ scene now.. soon it WILL be obsolete. I truly think rap/hip hop/RnB etc are meant for vinyl simply for scratching.
My 2 cents |
