It's been a while since I posted something in here, but a new BeTA party is coming up at the end of the month (see sig) and traditionally there is a theme song produced by myself, so I got off my lazy arse and created the track below. :p
It's epic trance, as one would expect for a theme song, but with a slightly darker edge. Just check it out for yourself..

Comments/suggestions are welcome, but not necessary as the track has already been approved by the BeTA party people :D Just posted it here for you guys to enjoy ;) |

This is very interesting... however, My earphones are really crappy listening devices, so I can't really say a whole lot.
The anthemic saw-lead is rather harsh on these ears. It's rather loud in some areas that I'm not sure are acceptable (these phones stink). Otherwise, the strings are lovely, and the other elements sometimes appropriately and bouncy. However, the song sounds epic anyways, and does have a slightly darker edge that is neither sad or brooding, but more like an autum dusk. |

Hey man,
Nice track, feedback while listening:
0:58 nice intro, easy to mix
1:12 love the entrance of the bass with the synth you used, very strong and original
1:53 nice pad with good volume but I feel is a little simple, why not trying to chorus the pad a bit or maybe using more than one pad at the time for more atmosphere
2:36 flat downtempo entrance, I like the little delayed effect that is sounding at the background
3:04 start of the main melody, beautiful so far and the synth is nice to hear
3:32 another pad in which I second my previous comment about the simplicity, try putting more live to those atmospheres. Love the sequence though.
4:14 kick starts, I love those kicks, very powerful.
5:56 to 5:28 take a hear on this part, sometimes when you change the bass sequence you create a distortion with the main melody, this is because maybe the notes are not the same or at least they are not in the same octave. Maybe its me but you better take a hear on this. musically this can be very critized.
7:03 I LOVE WHEN THE SONG ENTERS LIKE THIS. Again, very original.
Good outro. good work on the song m8
Me only real concern was that distortion part, make sure to listen to it and hear the notes and let me know if you hear it or not.
Peace... |

hey tor.
i am liking this. it has a nice full sound. and a good drive. i can hear notation influence from the one and only.... similar melodical structure to 'the legacy'..
i think it will be good to get that kick with a little bit more low to it. and get your main melody synth with some more 2K presence imo.
i like the buildup. a few single bar breaks will add some small variation to it i think. i love your percussions and efx. these have got a lot of power.
arrangement - i think the track would be more driving if you go from the main first break into a section sounding similar to how it sounds at 1:12. like a techy non melodical main section. and use your nice melodies for the breaks...
overall a great track. well made mate:) |

Good track here, fits the theme perfectly. The low saw-ish synth you've used to create the groove from around 1 minute onward works really well. One thing I'm not so crazy about is the distorted kick; I think it could be just as punchy but a little smoother on that low-middle end. Other than that it flows pretty nicely into the breakdown.
One thing I'm noticing is that the track is rather mono. Since this is supposed to be played at a party (mono system I assume) then it doesn't really matter, but I think some cross delay would work wonders on those pads, and some minor panning and wide reverb would be great for the other parts. As you said though, it's already been approved and finalized so it's irrelevant as a suggestion, but I said it anyway. :p
Those things aside, it's well-composed and well-mixed, and I'm sure it will go over great at the party!
Cheers,
Aaron

Hey mate, great song. The production is superb and the melodies nice and strong. It's a really 'confident' mix as well, if you know what I mean - the tune always has a clear focus and you show you're not afraid of the parts because you haven't buried them in amongst themselves.
Only thing I can really fault is that for a party anthem, the strings in the breakdown at 5:57 aren't as uplifting as they could be - it's brooding but a bit tense compared to the lovely upliftingess of the main lead. Those strings should be the bit where eveybody is bathed in a big smelly lasery sweat and are so elated by the *cough* music that they all give each other reach-arounds.
If you know what I mean.
Best of luck at the party and congrats on the wicked tune! |

nice...strong melodies...
I really like the melodies, they are very charming...and that arp sounds kinda techy :-)
the buildup is nice...but maybe you could use a less "standard sound" for that arp...
otherwise it's a nice production with everything I would expect from our old Billberry...but I think a less standard attitude might make it grow even bigger. |

Well, now that I'm now listening to the mix on my Audio-Technicas, I'm lovin' that kickdrum and bassline. In addition, the lead is less annoying on these mickey-mouse ears. Congratulations, you've made a believer out of me. |
