I've heard the Extordinary Way album and it sounds really popish and not even close to edm.
On the other hand 'Center Of The Sun' is very well written and not catchy as a pop tune should be and the melodies are very complicated so I don't get it.
Is it EDM or Pop music?

| Ethereal-Pop, along the lines of Delerium's "Poem" or "Chimera" or Sleepthief. Other-worldly pop, somewhat new age, with a mixture of ambient and some light EDM. The first CD was more like Delerium's darker pop stuff, the new one is just pop with hints of ethereal in it like Sleepthief or Delerium's "Chimera"..it isn't quite full fledged ethereal pop, a little lighter and less other-worldly. There's a lot of Ethereal-Pop out there, some is more like new age, some is not..kind of a mix bag. |

You sure can dance to it, though. |

True. There is no music you can't dance to. But then i don't think that's what dance music means. ;) |

I never said that!
It didn't seem to me as EDM at all so I thought I should ask.
Thanks for the answers,

EDM is a term thrown around so much for electronic music, esp on here. Some stuf like Conujure One has enough of a beat to be danceable, but unless it's a remix, you wont find most DJs playing in clubs just playing regular Conjure One tracks. The remixes...definitely EDM. The regular stuff, it's just ethereal electronic pop music. It's not house, techno, trance, breaks, drum n' bass or any of the other forms of EDM. It's along the lines of Delerium, Balligomingo, Sleepthief, Bel Canto and some Enigma stuff, among others. Just because something has a slightly dancey beat, and is electronic, doesn't neccessarily make it electronic dance music, it's just electronic music. Like I said...EDM is a term thrown around so much. I use it, but it's not a catch all phrase for anything electronic, like techno has become as well, esp in the states. Kinda makes you think all electronic music is..is for dancing, when that's not the case at all. |

they are all but one in the same basically - extremely talented Canadian musician from Vancouver:
Rhys Fulber
In Groups: Conjure One, Delerium, Front Line Assembly, Intermix, Noise Unit, Synaesthesia
along with Bill Leeb - formed most of the music in these Aliases - creating a formidable basis for many years of quality EDM and EBM music :) |
