no doubt :)
i heard the party was really crowded and fun but that was due to the event itself, not due to Oakenfold's set which i guarantee 75%+ of the people there had no idea who was spinning. |

I can't stress enough how wrong you are. I doubt that over 75% of the people there didn't know who Oakenfold was. Oakenfold has more saturation than Tiesto...i'm sure it was more like > 1% didn't know who he was. |

dude - this party was thrown by several modeling agencies and 944 magazine. the only people i know who went are the hollywood crowd people. i don't know any EDM fans that went because the party was invite only so 99% of TAs/EDM fans couldn't get in anyway. maybe more than 25% had heard the name but that's about as far as i'd go. |

| i'll give you another example. I was at Area last nite. my friends promote on fridays there... they had a fashion show as part of the nite. Mark Lewis was booked to DJ because his wife produced the show. other than one friend of mine, i highly doubt anyone knew who he was or went because of him spining. Mark is a LA institution and great asset to developing the scene in the 1990s but the hollywood crowd could care less. He only played till 11:30 or so because the management of Area wanted the music to be that hip hop/r&b/rock mix you hear at places like Mood/Element/Hyde/Les Deux nowadays... |

Yeah but c'mon...OAKENFOLD??!!? There's people at my work that know who Oakenfold is, granted they've never seen him...but they know the name and know he plays "techno" (lol). |

Same here! It's weird when older folks at works tell me if I like OAKENFOLD because they like his music! Yet, they never been to a show of his. |

Why not just have him play Southern Sun off Winamp then, since mixing is really of no importance but to those of us who "sit in the corner and bitch about mixing."
Yes, just enjoy yourself while this man in front of you gets paid 10 grand just to do the jesus pose and forget how to beatmatch. |

Me too, but i was simply saying that it would be nice to hear some old classics on the funkion 1 by a dj that i used to rock out to back in the day, and not really give a about the mixing for a change because lets be honest, thats not what poeple go to see oakenfold for nowadays.. probably not ever. |
