About the only US movies I've had trouble understanding at times where made by David Lynch, rest tend too be fairly regimented.

Well couldn't the same be said about movies from any culture?

When I started watching British movies and series years ago I had a really hard time at first not only because of the language but also all the cultural references.

I know when I watch French Quebec stuff I have a heard time understanding some of the cultural references just because I don't know everything about the region.

It's a different country, different language, it's obvious it's going to be hard for any outsider to get the whole thing 100% unless they know the whole culture.

jdat, meet sarcasm.

I find I need to turn on subtitles for some brit movies (ex: LSATSB, Trainspotting, L4YERCAKE, etc.)

Are any US movies just as hard to understand for brits?

you couldn't understand in trainspotting and layer cake?
wtffff dude

On the DvD, there's an Easter egg which enables subtitles for when brad Pitt speaks..

And, on Mean Machine (the original one, not the US remake )
There's a dubbed version for americans who don't understand english..
