Any other manchester madness lovin' boys and girls out there? The late stages of the manchester movement are what got me on the EDM path so I still hold the tunes very close to my heart. Took a trip down memory lane on youtube today and thought I would share. Some from the early days where they have not quite found their electronic pulse yet and others representing the first days of my EDM journey

If you have a manchester inspired tune that is still a fave of yours today I'd love to know what it is. Cassidy, you must have something to share to me!!!

Inspiral Carpets - This is how it feels

Charlatans - The Only One I Know

The Farm - Groovy Train

Ride - Vapour Trail

Stone Roses - She Bangs the Drum

Northside - Take Five (LOL at Warren Dermo's early 90's dance)

The Farm - All together Now

808 State - Pacific State

Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray (and the tune from '88 that got me out on the dancefloor and that is where I stayed)

Figure... the TA kids already know I am the grandma of this place so no need to hide it! I heard a remix a few years back of vapour trail ...and a guy I'm guessing... 19 or so said to his buddy beside him "love this new track, do you know who does the vocal". new? It all comes back around...

This was one of my favourites when I used to DJ those years. I last dropped it at Drew's OMGWTFBBQ.

You just missed A Guy Called Gerald spin here in Toronto just a few weeks ago! legend.

here are my songs of choice Heidi....so many good ones....thanks for the thread :)

The Beloved - Sun Rising

totally fell in love with this track and it's trancey synthlines not to mention it proceeded the whole Enigma MCMXC gregorian chant reintroduction into modern society ala the new age movements - vocal sample from Hildegard Von Bingen's song “Vision” (O Euchari in Leta Via) which was also sampled by Orbital

England New Order - World in Motion

World Cup theme for England in 1990 - "E" is for England they shouted!!!......so the PILLS were ingested and bye-bye to the booze and many a soccer riot ceased with new found empathy and brotherly love :)

Slowdive - Shine

one of my favourite bands from the shoegazing area - so moody and delayed guitars and chilled out bliss

This Mortal Coil - Late Night PV

This Mortal Coil was a musical project of Ivo Watts-Russell, founder of the British 4AD Records label featuring vocal appearances from Lisa Gerrard - Dead Can Dance and Elizabeth Frasier - Cocteau Twins among others.....

His Name Is Alive - CAN'T GO WRONG WITHOUT YOU

VIDEO FTW????? I remembering seeing this video on the Friday night MuchMusic spot City Limits. An indispensable resource for fans of interesting music, this programme helped usher in the 90's trend towards alternative music. ing creepy and cool at the same time ;)

Lush - Sweetness and Light

totally fell in love with this band upon first listen - Meshing dreamy, feedback-drenched guitars with airy, catchy melodies it is simply a timeless modern rock classic from 1990

Inspiral Carpets - She Comes In The Fall

Their sound is based around harmonic (and often psychedelic) keyboards and jangly guitars. The band were propelled to fame after being 'discovered' by the Radio 1 DJ John Peel....At the time of their initial success, the band earned some notoriety for their squiggly-eyed cow 'Cool as ' T-shirts; a student at Oxford Polytechnic was prosecuted on obscenity charges for wearing one. One of their roadies, Noel Gallagher, who was rejected in an audition to be the band's vocalist, went on to great success with the band Oasis.....so now you know ;)

MC Tunes v 808 State - The Only Rhyme That Bites

quirky and different this track entered the Uk Charts and placed as a top ten hit....sounds kinda corny now but it was the back then haha....

Saint Etienne - Only Love Can Break Your Heart

Saint Etienne are one of the bands who defined the early 90s indie dance genre, fusing the production values of the dance-pop that emerged in the wake of the Second Summer of Love with the clever lyrics and self-aware production of indie music. A cool cover of Neil Young's classic "Only Love Can Break Your Heart"

New Order - Fine Time

By this time, the group was heavily influenced by the Balearic house sounds of Ibiza and the acid house tunes making their way into the Hacienda. Technique was released in February 1989. The album debuted at number one in the UK and contained a healthy mix of the acid house influence.

The La's - There She Goes

most have heard the remake of this track via Sixpence None the Richer (for whom it was a major hit single), Robbie Williams, and The Boo Radleys. The first version of the song was released by The La's in 1988, but failed to chart. They re-recorded it in 1990 for their debut album The La's. Reissued as a single in 1990, "There She Goes" hit #13 in the UK charts (#49 in the U.S.), was the biggest success The La's were to ever enjoy and remains the song for which the band are chiefly remembered. "There She Goes" has gained a certain reputation as being about using heroin. The lyrics seem to refer to a woman, but on closer inspection of some lines ("There she goes again... racing through my brain... pulsing through my vein... no one else can heal my pain"), the possible drug connotations become apparent.

Utah Saints - What can you do for me

Utah Saints were one of the early pioneers of bringing sampling technology into mainstream dance and pop music. Featuring samples of Eurythmics' - There Must Be An Angel...they were described as "the first true stadium house band"

Primal Scream - Loaded

House Of Love - Shine On

The Shamen - Move Any Mountain (Progen 91)

FUTURE SOUNDS OF LONDON

one of my all time favourite EDM bands....the music the atmospheres the visuals - so futuristic It was around this time that the use of ISDN technology as means of transmitting data began to take off and they keenly took it up, broadcasting their music via ISDN in the UK to radio station Kiss Fm listeners on an almost regular basis

FSOL Papua New Guinea

FSOL Lifeforms

FSOL My Kingdom
