| In the market for some new headphones...what do you guys think? I've had Sonys (broke them) and Ultrasones (got drunk and lost them). I liked the Ultrasones but would consider something else. Are the Pioneers as breakable as the Sonys? How about the Denons or Technics? AKG? Sennheiser? |

Sony 7506's are the single best pair of cans I've ever owned.
I've had the Pioneer HDJ1000's, the technics cans, Sony MDR700DJ, and a pair of Stanton's phones and out of all of them the 7506's produce the most punchy bass I've heard in a headphone, the least distortion, and weigh significantly less.
I'd recommend and know a lot of the TA DJ Booth would do the same, but they aren't for everyone. Hope you find something you like Mike :) |

Rob - are those loud enough for the main room? Someone told me they arent. Also, did you check out the 7509's? I think they may be the new version of 7506? |

Well, I've never played on a system comparable to Vision's main room, so I guess I can't really comment there, but for the most part I'd say they do the trick.
Don't know much about the 7509's, but I *think* when they came out, Burridge was the one who was singing their praises night and day :)
All in all, I guess I'd highly, highly recommend the 7506's. Most people I know who've just gotten to try them out instantly fell in love; But again, headphones are definitely a personal preference kind of decision and everyone's gotta find the cans that work for them. |

| i just got a pair of the 7506 that i'm using primarily for production. after using them for a few weeks i have a hard time imagining them to be loud enough to play a loud system. they just don't get anywhere near as loud as the v700s, tho they are infinitely more comfortable and the sound reproduction is significantly more accurate. |

| been using the technics and the sony 700s. been finding the bass in the technics to sound better and headphones themselves are heavier which i actually prefer, they also grip my giant eastern european cube shaped head tighter so that's always a plus |

| p.s. get headphones whose cord you can zip-tie to your wrist. |

+1. the tech's bass response is excellent and they feel much sturdier than the 700's. and they also have a detachable cable with an optional 1/4" replacement jack. very convenient. |
