Hey guys!

Its been a looong time since i posted something here! :)

Anyway, i got the chance to be a "testpilot" on AJ-tunes.com, which is a "little sister" to Audiojelly.com, but its for independent artists.

So i finally finished a track for it, to see how it work and how i will do selfpromoting :D. Its melodic and energetic trancer, and i hope you like it!

Due to the limitation on the website, there is only a sample preview on it, but i think you will get a nice view on what it is about.

LISTEN HERE!

Comments are welcome ;)

Cheers

Great sample.

strong kick, bass is ok as you used a simple sequence but it fits well in the mix, synths are awesome. Everything is ok but I dont quite like the snareroll you used, the snare instrument itself is not at the level of the track, maybe try getting a snare that sounds a bit more pro.

Excellent mix dude. Will love to hear the whole track.

Peace...

Well, substorm is well known of me, since I often find him in the production forum. I was expecting a cheecky trance tune when I hit the play button...

[click]

JUMPIN' JEPHOSEPHAT RIDIN' A UNICYCLE... This is power epic trance. Just the way I like it too... You rock.

The kick has not just a bite that audible, but that tasty CRUNCH.
The bass is energetic, and not too dark, not too bright.
The hats are not overdone, and fit well.
The piano sends signals down my spine.
The distortion lead sounds like an amplified Vanguard lead, and is mint!
Good gated pad in the background. I love supersaw sounds, especially tasefully rendered ones that don't fit the criteria of being the main lead.

Send me an email at [email protected] when this is finished. Cheers!

Thanks for a nice review. :D regarding the snare roll, well i dont know why it sounds like that in this clip, but i wanted the snae to sound a little muddy and old school, but i can see what you mean!

Thanks again :)

Excellent and very professional sounding! Great job!!!

I wish I could get a kick sound like this :( I have so much to learn regarding mixing.

very strange to see you in here substorm

you know i like your tracks so hopefully this is equally as good.

damn very epic. as usual your tracks are perfectly mixed. love that breakdown synth and the melody sends shivers down my spine. what synth you using v station? if it is your can fairly program this.

not much to judge on it but i cant find any faults. lovely mixing and mastering as usual. might buy this one. that synth is awesome.

well done mate!

Thanks alot guys, i really needed to hear some uplifting thoughts. :) This period of time up hear in the north is really depressingg, and its hard to get some inspiration to my music, but this helps alot. Thanks again!

@David adams: Well, regarding the kick. I havent compressed it, just some eq. i let it roll off at about 30hz , plus a little boost at the bottom where it has its punch. This depends what kick you use, but a good kick sample is always good to start with. Then i cut some around 200-250 hz, and a small boots at 2500hz. See so that the low and high bost are in level, then i added a closed hat in a nother track playing along the kick to get it a alittle more present and crunshy.

@[Alpha]Dave: , ill try to do my best, thanks ;)

@Dj_kane: Well.. i know but i thought i would be nice to gets some reviews..:) I wouldŽnt consider it perfect, i think i still have along way to go, but its nice hear you think that. Well the lead sound is made with Vanguard... :)

Cheers

I just listened to the track again... there is something you could do that would make it alot better, in my mind.

There is a chord structure that I think you are missing on the last pass of the melody before it repeats. The bright lead goes up in the major and drops down into the minor... the bass should drop alongside it. That would make it quite epic if that's what you are going for. You might as well, seeing that the other elements of the track make this highly anticipated. I encourage it for one.

If you are feeling very creative, you could have the bassline drop, then tease itself back to the original bassline (by going up... then back... then up again). I should really play your melody on the piano and provide a MIDI file of what I have in mind.

I liked it, sounds really full and solid. So does AJTunes take 50% of the sales just like AudioJelly? But with the benefit of not having the record company take another cut? Sounds like a nice plan. Quality assurance will be a bitch.
