I don't know if you've looked around the country, but your beloved Bush has Secret Service everywhere and is investigating children who vaguely threaten him on their myspace/blogs because he's so worried about getting whacked as a result of so many people hating him. Hell, his dissenters are coralled so far away from him during their protests that they wouldn't even have a chance if they wanted to.

Oh yeah because you heard about this investigation first hand. Give me a break man. It doesnt matter if it Bush or Clinton, when you have a serious threat againts you, everyone will take it seriously. I dont blame Bush for having the Secret Service everywhere, when you have alot of people hating you, you might get a bullet one day by some whacko.

I think he's the best candidate, but I agree with the "He wont win because he's black" that is one of his (if not THE) biggest obstacle(s) in his way.

Clinton would be ok, but the ideal presidential candidate would be able to both secure the USA's position as THE world power politically/Socially/Economically/Militarily. The USA needs a super hero right now or else China is going to be on an even faster track to the top.

YES! WE NEED A REAGAN IN OFFICE!!

wait a second? Which country is threatening us in military power? or economically? or socially (well maybe you could argue that) and politically, no matter what president comes in power, we still will be the ones everyone has to listen to.

I hear ya, brother. We need to be serious and have a serious president, not one that rhymes with terrorists! Damn straight.

By the way, doesn't your name rhyme with I-wanna-pipe--a-winnebaga?

Well, if by first hand, you mean I was involved in the investigation or targeted, no I didn't hear about it first hand. I heard about it the same way everyone else does, by reading the news

Teen questioned for online Bush threats

By DON THOMPSON, Associated Press Writer Sat Oct 14, 6:44 AM ET

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Upset by the war in Iraq, Julia Wilson vented her frustrations with President Bush last spring on her Web page on MySpace.com. She posted a picture of the president, scrawled "Kill Bush" across the top and drew a dagger stabbing his outstretched hand. She later replaced her page on the social-networking site after learning in her eighth-grade history class that such threats are a federal offense.

It was too late.

Federal authorities had found the page and placed Wilson on their checklist. They finally reached her this week in her molecular biology class.

The 14-year-old freshman was taken out of class Wednesday and questioned for about 15 minutes by two Secret Service agents. The incident has upset her parents, who said the agents should have included them when they questioned their daughter.

On Friday, the teenager said the agents' questioning led her to tears.

"I wasn't dangerous. I mean, look at what's (stenciled) on my backpack — it's a heart. I'm a very peace-loving person," said Wilson, an honor student who describes herself as politically passionate. "I'm against the war in Iraq. I'm not going to kill the president."

Her mother, Kirstie Wilson, said two agents showed up at the family's home Wednesday afternoon, questioned her and promised to return once her daughter was home from school.

After they left, Kirstie Wilson sent a text message to her daughter's cell phone, telling her to come straight home: "There are two men from the secret service that want to talk with you. Apparently you made some death threats against president bush."

"Are you serious!?!? omg. Am I in a lot of trouble?" her daughter responded.

Moments later, Kirstie Wilson received another text message from her daughter saying agents had pulled her out of class.

Julia Wilson said the agents threatened her by saying she could be sent to juvenile hall for making the threat.

"They yelled at me a lot," she said. "They were unnecessarily mean."

Spokesmen for the Secret Service in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., said they could not comment on the case.

Wilson and her parents said the agents were justified in questioning her over her MySpace.com posting. But they said they believe agents went too far by not waiting until she was out of school.

They also said the agents should have more quickly figured out they weren't dealing with a real danger. Ultimately, the agents told the teen they would delete her investigation file.

Assistant Principal Paul Belluomini said the agents gave him the impression the girl's mother knew they were planning to question her daughter at school. There is no legal requirement that parents be notified.

"This has been an ongoing problem," said Ann Brick, an attorney with the
American Civil Liberties Union in San Francisco.

Former Govs. Pete Wilson and Gray Davis vetoed bills that would have required that parents give consent or be present when their children are questioned at school by law enforcement officers. A similar bill this year cleared the state Senate but died in the Assembly.

Julia Wilson plans to post a new MySpace.com page, this one devoted to organizing other students to protest the Iraq war.

"I decided today I think I will because it (the questioning) went too far," she said.

 Okay.. next time think before you say anything!

Well in regards of him being black, I dont think it can be a big issue. I mean, those who would against him for that issue, will be uncultured people that are ignorant. To the normal middle class family, and educated individual, who gives a shyt if his black? If you got solutions for all of our problems bring it on, and i doubt that the color of his skin can play a big part. That is why I think he is undecided to run, but i doubt that it can have a big impact.

This can be well said for Hillary, shes a woman! Im not saying that she dosent have what it takes, but youll have all this bs on the rise if she can handle the war when Bush gets out of office and all the foreign policy in the years to come. Sadly, how the world is right now that US has to engage more in itl politics than domestic. So you will have all this bs come up if a woman is truly suitable for the job.

In conclusion, if Clinton or Obama are the elected candidates for the Dem party, and they win. history will be done, Hillary will be our first female pres and if Obama wins, our first African-American :)

You need to get out of Miami and get around this country if you think these that a) being black won't matter and b) being a woman won't matter. The "uncultured people that are ignorant" are a lot more plentiful than you'd think, and do extend well into the middle class, upper class, and educated ranks.

I wouldn't mind seeing either a woman (but not Hillary) or a black man, like Obama, win, but I don't trust America to elect them, simply on the gender/race issue, and that's before we even start mentioning their politics. Just remember that probably at least half of current registered voters today lived in a time when segregation was acceptable, and the general societal mindsets present in the early parts of their lives aren't easy to shake, especially if you were indoctrinated with those views as a child.

Don't agree with it just because it's floating around thick above our heads.

You think he's the best candidate? You believe in what he stands for and think he'll make a positive change?

Then just keep a good energy and have a little hope and do your part.

You need to enact a positive change first, because it's your country; the elected leader is just a symbol of where the people want to go.

And we're sick of the bull. Don't even think that he won't win because he's black; you're defeating yourself and the rest of us before we even have a chance to begin.

Maybe that's a general consensus in America these days, because we've seen a snowballing effect of disappointment after disappointment.

:stongue: :stongue:
I need to get out of Miami? I have probably traveled to more states that you have anyways

Dude you need to understand politics first. after you do please come back to this board, register under another name, so you wont look as an idiot as im about to make you look right now.

Okay, for a moment lets pretend that Obama gets elected for the dem party(black male) sure if you hit south, i mean the heart of our souther states, you might find white extremist, young and old that dont accept integration between blacks, anyways those STATES TEND TO VOTE REPUBLICAN :haha:  The south has always been very conservative and Rep. Okay from a campaighn manager and a polotical analyst point of view, do you really need to win all those states to win a presidential election?:conf: I dont think so, even many presidents, mostly dem dont tend to win over those states that much because of their electoral history, the critical states as you all know, now Florida, NY etc.. I consider FL moderate, you have people either vote dem or rep, either they vote because they identify themselves with their political beliefs, or some that are just moderate that just vote for the best candidate that they consider suitable.

Okay now, when it comes to an election you either vote rep or dem. Most hardcore southerners, stay at states that were the "same" of their people are, and guess what? Those states tend to vote republican  So from what I know Dems dont tend to go after those states, Even Reps they know they have those states in their pockets and they usually stop by their to say hi to the people by the end of their campaign.

I want to make this thing short, I DONT THINK IT WONT IMPACT OBAMA  Dude even the Reps are considering to convince Dr. Rice to run for Pres, what happens if its Obama vs. Rice, Im sure those racist wont vote for either dem or rep, theyll probably switch to vote for the communist party:stongue:

Again, you need to understand the way this political process works, yet again Obama has proven it, that he can connect with todays youth, and persuade them to vote for him, trust me! just look at the way he campaigns, he uses simple words, good communicator and is able to hit every issue from a college student to an elderly ;)

I want to add. Timothy James McVeigh, that adapted racist ideology, like from the turner diaries, when the bombing of Oklahoma, a southern state, took place and we later found out about this mans ideology, his type of mentality was rejected by most people, only those who are fanatics and shyt and just hard headed kept on with his type of beliefs. but this is another subject for another thread

:D

I'm sure you enjoyed that, but you're still wrong. And before you start running your mouth about how I don't understand politics, realize you're talking to someone who graduated with a degree in government from an ivy league school. You may have traveled, but you still don't understand the people. First, the states that traditionally go Democrat may still vote for Obama, but the majority of America, you know, those that elected Bush, won't. You need to win a few borderline states, which won't ever happen with him as a candidate.

Like I said, I like him from what limited exposure I've had, but that doesn't disregard the fact that i don't think he'll ever win in the US in 2008. Maybe 2030, but not now.

And you've got to be kidding me if you think the republicans would ever nominate Condi.

Also, you really need to cut down on the smiley usage. They're really not necessary every 2 sentences. What are you, 12?

Ok, time to voice my opinion. I have travelled around the country except to Alaska, and Hawaii. I can tell you that people are friendly once they open up to you. And yes skin color and sex is still a big thing to most Americans. If you want to be president being black or having a vagina is a major obstacle. Just like being short. Who was the last short president under 5'8?
