the def jam thing is just for the NBA all-star weekend. but yeah supposedly Greg the owner said yesterday they will be open until that takes place in Feb or so.
i'm betting they close anyway for the most part and just open up for maybe a couple of select events until feb or march. |

Not Melting, Just Yet
An Eye on Vegas Exclusive
Not only has off-strip, house music hot spot ICE Nightclub been the home of some of Vegas’ sickest house music sets but also the subject of more rumors and closures than any venue in Vegas. A buzz hit the streets last week when word started to leak out that this up-coming weekend would be the end of ICE Nightclub. “I’m not ready to close the books just yet,” Greg Neely told the Eye on Vegas earlier today while hinting that an up-coming deal with Empire Ballroom is in the works. “For us to keep ICE open, it’s a pretty substantial commitment every month,” Neely continued while putting a 6-figure price tag on the basic operating costs of the nightclub, “we have received a confirmation of the financial commitment necessary to move forward until our lease is up in March of next year.” While faulty prognosticators have called for the closure of ICE for years, it seems they might have to wait just a little bit longer. Already confirmed for as far down the road as February, is an N.B.A. All-Star Weekend buyout from pioneering hip hop recording label Def Jam. “While we considered the possibility of closing and moving the Def Jam party over to Empire they were already committed and we certainly weren’t going to leave them in the lurch,” Neely added perfectly catching a snapshot of his mindset. He has long preached that one of the primary purposes of ICE is to create networking and business opportunities for himself and his partners. Neely exclusively told the Eye months ago that plans for another nightclub are in the works, earlier today he added that a boutique hotel property as well as several possible projects with MGM Mirage is also being considered for the future. “ICE continues to enable us to make connections with amazing people,” Neely noted using the Def Jam buyout as one example before adding, “Once we close, we don’t have an identity anymore.” Okay, so if ICE isn’t closing this weekend, when will the farewell party be? “When we close we will do it with a timeline that makes sense so we can disband the club on our terms and not someone else’s.” There you have it from the only man that matters, ICE’s principle owner plans on being open until March of 2007. |

i think its obvious that Ice is cash flow negative as a operating business...they will probably lose less $$ by not throwing any weekly parties but instead just paying rent and then collecting the big check from Def Jam. |
