This is a friendly reminder that new document requirements for travel to/from the U.S. are expected to come into effect January 8th, 2007, subject to U.S. government approval.

At that time, all passengers will be required to present a valid
passport when travelling by air between Canada and the United States. This includes Canadian and U.S. citizens.

It is strongly recommended that those who do not hold a valid passport apply for a passport well in advance of travel plans.

As early as January 1, 2008, a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security, will be required when travelling by land or sea (including ferries).

sorry if this has already been posted, but i heard that something like less than 10% of the US population actually has a valid passport. I know most Americans don't travel outside of the country when they go on vacation..

verdadero o falso??

Katrina was a HUGE catastrophe. Can you honestly think any country would be able to respond any better? how can u in a short time do anything about that situation

iraq? iraq. our gov't decided to go so our troops went. thats what happens. our military HAS to do what they r told dude. my best friend was in Baghdad, but did he cry and bitch? no he did his duty and came back home (thank God). Bush invaded iraq for himself. it had nothing to do with the American people or their interests. did i feel taken care of when Bush invaded Iraq? um kind of cuz i know Iraq wont be coming here.

Spending my youth and teen years in Vermont... I figure could be, though I can't confirm, however there's so many differences and variety throughout the states, I wouldn't be surprised. Not many countries in the world where you can go skiing one weekend, and be snorkeling coral reefs the next.

yes it was a disaster,but abandoning your people till they all almost die is just sad and pathetic.

Katrina just showed how uncapable this government is on almost any situation.

why would Iraq want to come to your country anyways?:conf:

Look up the last poster's previous posts, and you'll understand what he's saying.
Jer.
I think five years is just fine. The Canadian Passport is pretty much the trump card of Global Identification due to the hoops you have to jump through in order to obtain one.. Just plan ahead and you'll be fine. I had to get one *really* quickly due to the fact I have differing last names on a few pieces of ID, and I had to have the ability to cross the border into the states.

But yeah, I had no trouble getting into England with it. No hassles whatsoever.

New rules for carry-on baggage at all nairports in the European Union

Effective November 6, 2006, new rules for the contents of carry-on baggage will apply for all airline passengers throughout the European Union (EU). Passengers may only carry small quantities (max. 100 ml per container) of liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on baggage. The packaging of these products must also meet specific requirements. This applies for all passengers departing from or catching connecting flights at airports within the European Union.
The new rules apply for liquids such as water and other soft drinks, but also extend to gels, pastes,lotions, and the contents of aerosols. This includes toiletries such as toothpaste, shaving cream, hair gel, lip gloss, and facial creams.

The following rules apply for liquids in carry-on baggage:
You may bring a transparent plastic bag from home.
1. You are only allowed to carry liquids and gels in containers
with a volume of 100 ml or less;
2. These containers may only be carried in a transparent plastic
bag;
3. Each passenger may only carry one such transparent plastic
bag;
4. The volume of the transparent plastic bag may not exceed 1
liter;
5. The transparent plastic bag must be re-sealable;

During the introductory period, you will receive transparent plastic bags free-of-charge at all airports in the Netherlands.
Two exceptions will be made:
baby formula that is required during the flight;
medication that is required during the flight

You will still be allowed to make (tax-free) purchases at European
airports after passing through passport control and aboard flights
operated by European airlines. Liquids and gels that you purchase
after passing through passport control or aboard the aircraft will be
packed and sealed for you in the shop or on board, if necessary.
The package seal will remain valid for 24 hours. If you have to catch
a connecting flight, you will not be allowed to break the seal until
you have reached your final destination.

Separate presentation of contents When passing through security control, you will be required to present all liquids separately. The transparent plastic bag should be sealed and easily re-sealable. You are also required to separately present your coat, jacket and larger electrical equipment, such as laptops, when passing through security control.

VIVA LA CANADA!

One of the problems is that there are 55 or so (depending on how you count) U.S. drivers licenses. It is therefore very difficult for a U.S. Border Guard (much less a Canadian official) to ascertain whether the driver's licenses they inspect at the border are genuine. Having a single national ID ("passport-lite") would help alleviate that problem.
