Need help with a Phone

i have a phone (nokia 6265i) that came to me under dubious circumstances. when i turn on the phone, it says "phone restricted" and asks for a restriction code.
is this a regular keypad lock? or was this phone somehow remotely locked by the previous owner?
more importantly, how can i get this opened so i can unlock and use the phone
any suggestions other then trying all the number combinations possible |

Most likely you just had your number changed or something else changed on the account and the phone got reprogramed while you were on the phone with telus.
Try the last 4 digits of your phone number. |

the phone isn't mine. and i can't really ask the owner for the number (hence the dubious circumstances)
think a shop can unlock it? |

| because the phone was stolen, don't quote me, but you may not be able to use it. Sometimes when someone's phone is stolen, they call it in, and the serial number of that phone is put on the database as stolen and can not be used. Maybe unlocking it can change this but I'm not sure. |
